This was a last minute booking for 2 nights for myself and my husband as part of a short break.nnThe hotel was easy to find. We parked up. The hotel foyer was welcoming and inviting. We were swiftly checked in by friendly staff so all was good.nnOur room was on the first floor and things went downhill. The carpets were threadbare at best, damp patches everywhere, paint and wallpaper in tatters. The room we had was huge, a triple and mostly clean, damp patches included!nnThe tea and coffee tray was basic and a bit sparse....one little pack of biscuits was not exactly generous for a triple room. The kettle had to be put on the floor to be used as the plug wire was too short. It also had water from the previous occupant...small thing but as a former housekeeper that's a big no no!nnThe sheets were clean but the mattresses felt very well used. Our double was two singles together with a hell of a dip in the middle! The duvet was clean but thin ,as was each pillow, paper thin! Note I said pillow not pillows, one each.nnOne bath towel and 2 hand towels for a triple for 2 days was not exactly over generous either!nnOn night two we tried to get an early night. Not a chance. A function room immediately under us had the likes of Gary Glitter blasting out to keep the guests entertained. It wound up about 10pm. Not late I know but we could have done without it. We ended up sitting in the lounge for an hour or two just waiting for the guests to leave.nnAll in all not the best hotel or the worst hotel ever. Would we stay again? Probably not.
Gone downhill since our last visit.nRooms were not we had paid for.nNo bath towels on first afternoon, had to shower and dry with a small hand towel. Apparently the laundry hadn't arrived.nHot water coming out of cold tap for several minutes before it actually ran cold. Must be a fault somewhere and it made me be wary about drinking it. Other rooms had same problem.nBreakfast was pretty mediocre.nI appreciate it's self service but the sausage, bacon , black pudding etc was lukewarm every morning.nThe rest of the breakfast was fine and at least the coffee was hot !!nIt was necessary to use the gents toilet obviously. However 2 of the urinals were nearly over flowing and the disabled toilet looked like a bomb site. Health Hazard!!nThe outside of the hotel is an eyesore with rotten window frames,peeling paint, and dripping gutters.nFinal straw £2.75 for a can of lemonade !!!nnGood points.nFriendly, hard working staff, and great music on the Friday night.nnWon't be going back !!!
What a great reasonably priced hotel with great food and great service to match. After a long drive from south of England it was nice to find this place in the perfect location to take a break and get some much needed rest. The hotel was quiet and had a distinct atmosphere! I loved my stay.
My group of 12 gentlemen?!booked an overnight stay consisting of dinner bed & breakfast, plus 2 rounds of golf.nI have been numerous times before but it was the first time for the majority of the group.nContact with the hotel was stress free and the overall communication was very professional.nOk, the rooms are in need of an upgrade, but they are clean and tidy and were perfect for our short stay. Food was fine, quality of the drinks were good and the staff were efficient and friendly. It was great value and every one of us are looking forward to returning next year if not sooner.
Great location in a small town ,nBreakfast was great, The Two rooms they tried to give me, one was full of smoke from a previous smoker.nThe room 9 window could only open 2 inches,I could smell the Left over residue from smoking out of the windownAbout 0200am, bathroom floor was covered in water from base of the toilet.
