Just had delivery of lemon chicken, a wee munch box and sweet sour chicken in batter and chicken wings. My goodness... Firstly, lemon chicken - chicken was good batter was ok but the lemon sauce was simply no taste of lemon at all, very watery. Munch box chips were ok, and the chicken wings I was told was good. However the battered chicken was not fully cooked and extremely oily. The sweet and sour dip was much like the lemon primordial soup with no flavour. I've now tried two different Chinese places here in whitburn and both seem terrible. As someone who enjoys Asian cuisine and cooking dishes like this I would assume that they are cutting corners and not cutting edge with their flavourings. My suggestions: Lemon sauce- Reduce the size of the tub for lemon sauce- use lemon zest and also add in some lemon concentrate in the tub to give more flavour. Sweet and sour sauce- Add in chilli flakes, pineapple prices and choose a different source to buy your goods from. Chicken in batter- Guys please use a 3 stage process. 1. Cook chicken thuroughly 2. Batter the chicken and cook until batter is nearly golden brown 3. Continue to cook over some grill to drain the oil until batter becomes golden brown. Just my two pence.
