I have found Granville House to be nothing but excellent in every department. We consider ourselves to be very lucky indeed to have access to this practice.
I think many of the negative reviews are based on ability to get a doctors appointment. I have found this in the past with several GP surgeries. I call at exactly 8am, no later, and ask for a call back, which I always receive an I manage to get an appointment.nAs for the reception staff….. I thought perhaps, especially after reading reviews, I would struggle with reception, but they’ve been so helpful, I have a brain condition and it effects my ability to take things in, I’ve only had patience and understanding from them and I’m very grateful for that.nDoctors are fast and efficient and also compassionate.nI’ve lived in many places and had many GP surgeries, other than 20yrs ago when all GP practices were a lot better than they are today, this is the best surgery I’ve had since I was a child.
April 2024:n5 StarsnBooked appointment online to see a doctor Dr Chouhdry face to face. I'm please to say that the entire process was perfectly fine as is worthy of the 5 stars I have given because the service was perfect in my view.nnSeptember 2022:n4 StarsnBooked appointment online to see a doctor face to face. Outside practice it says to wear a face mask so I put mine on and went inside. I didn't notice any other patients there. The machine to log patient arrivals was off so I waited to be addressed by a staff member. No staff were on the phone. A staff member spoke after about 20 seconds of pressing the smartphone in her hand I wouldn't know what that was for. I gave my name and which doctor I had an appointment to see Dr Eccles. The lady showed me which waiting room to wait in.nnAppointment with the doctor was 20 minutes and I felt that was just right for my needs. I miss my former doctor who has retired but Dr Eccles and the other doctors are great.nnEarly 2022:n3 StarsnUsed to be the best. Gone downhill now. The Doctors are still great and that is the sole reason for the 3 stars. The place would be perfect if it wasn't for the prescription staff and the centre manager who are under investigation by the NHS Ombudsman for refusing to correct their mistake of sending my prescription to the wrong pharmacy, telling me they cannot correct it and suggesting I correct their mistake for them. Then on top of that the manager claimed they fixed the problem as soon as they were made aware of it ignoring the proof that they told me they couldn't correct it. Also manager claimed staff were 'discussing options' rather than telling me to sort their problem out myself yet he refused to offer proof by way of telling me what possible options could be discussed when it was his staff who sent the prescription to the wrong place. In another incident I had a prescription staff member trying to refuse a repeat prescription for Nasonex. The recording of that call is with the NHS Ombudsman also. This place needs overhauling. Non-medical staff need retraining. The manager needs replacing completely because he's proven he cannot be trusted whatsoever. The best advice I can give you if you are with this people is keep a record of everything they tell you, including telephone conversations. Update: The manager I reported has now left the practice.nnOn 1st January 2022 I noticed this practice had quietly removed the messaging facility from EMIS Patient Access. This facility was used to request repeat medication that they were unable to specifically add to the 'repeat' section. As an individual on the spectrum this was my preferred method of requesting medication and its removal makes things more difficult for everyone especially myself. It restricts people to using older methods of contact such as telephone, post, in person visit. This practice is going backwards by creating services and taking them away again.nnOn 4th January 2022 I observed that the messaging facility was still not available on EMIS/Patient Access so as a direct result of this I had to book a doctor's appointment for something which the admin staff should have taken care of.nnWhile the pandemic has made matters worse it shouldn't be ignored that this practice was struggling to cope beforehand. I believe the quality of service we observed in 2019 was the result of an increase in patient numbers over the past 20 years such as those on the new housing estates. When this happens places such as Granville House need an increase in funding to cater for these extra patients who deserve the same level of care as everyone else. It shouldn't be considered normal to have to make over a hundred phone call attempts before someone answers for the people who have experienced that.
I have been a patient at this practice all my life. I can’t fault the senior doctors when you get to see them but my experience yesterday was appalling!!!nnIt was third time back in a short space for a problem that is concerning me and causing a lot of pain and discomfort.nnAdvised by junior doctor that I need to book in at physio only to walk to reception and be told there is no physio appointments call back….nnIt’s a shambles…. The people on front desk may well hear all sorts of things but there is no excuses for the sheer lack of care shown.nnLeft me not knowing what to do next to get a resolution as being sent home isn’t going to help.nnI’d suggest if you can’t offer physio you look at other options.
I have put a few reviews on the surgery website regarding how rude the reception one staff are and this woman knows who ahe is in the mornings and others can be over the phone when trying to book an appointment, but I haven't seen any of my reviews yet on there and poss tend to pick and choose what they put on!!!nnThe attitude is disgusting and they talk to you with hostility and dissrespect. They don't care if there are no appointments left for that day and tell you to call the next day!nThey are unhelpful and give you no other option even if the Dr has requested you book an appointment as they have tried to contact you.nnI don't understand why this is the case and why it's so difficult to book an appointment for you as per Dr's request.nI work full time and find it inconvenient to try and book on the day.nI spoke to a receptionist last week and needed to speak to the Dr regarding my medication but the guy who answered the phone decided to go through my meds and what it was for and the consultation I had had with the GP that day .!! I am angry that he thought he could go into my private confidential records within the patient reception area and I have to say he dismissed my dignity and wasn't pleasent in his manner to put it bluntly. Why did he not put me through to the Dr or if unable to ask the Dr to call me back/messagennI would appreciate in future that you tell your none medical staff not to look at patient records!!!nnThe online appointment system is outdated as telephone appointments are at inconvenient times and although the surgery is open 8am-18:30. 17:00-18:30 for most working people is a good time for appointment over the phone/ face to face. There are now 830am face to face appointent's where there has been a good improvement at last but the appointents are only with trainee GP'snImprovements need to be made and updating of your practice booking system as it seems to be run as a general walk-in clinic rather than a local GP practice offering their local communty a cohesive consultation.nnA booking management system to allow the Dr's to book you in at the end of your appointment to allow a follow up on your ongoing conditions otherwise you see another GP which breaks that rappour/ consistancy in seeing the same Dr as a follow up because they can't pre-book you in to see them!!!nPlease look at the points I am making and think about how your patients feel and how difficult it your practice processes are which aren't giving the best of service and your reviews will inmprove amd tour Dr's will be in a better work enviroment.nThis may take the stress off yoir other none medical staff
