lovely market! with fresh fruit n veg, clothes inc outdoor clothes, pet supplies, cafe’s and food. It’s a beautiful building too. I got some vegan coconut frozen yoghurt which was quite nice and some treats for my cat :
Great market with a great choice of street food stalls, seafood, delis, butchers, flowers etc. An historic place; try to do a guided tour if you can
The place is awesome to Grab a little Snack or a bigger one. The price Was usually reasonable for the Portion. We enjoyed to try out different cuisines.
First time visiting both the market and Newcastle itself and really enjoyed both. The market feels real and not touristy which I really liked. This is a welcome change to some other cities markets I've been to. There is a nice, and interesting, range of shops/stalls to choose from, and pleasant level of busyness, which isn't asphyxiating. The traders were also very friendly, certainly a theme of the city. I would recommend the market and will be back if I visit Newcastle again.
Cool indoor market with a great range of stalls and shops including the last remaining M&S penny arcade in the UK as well as some lovely food stalls.
The roof has been restored to a fantastic level. Great of shops in here, not so many of the traditional ones as there used to be. Like butchers and greengrocers but still some. Fantastic place to go for "street food" such a diverse selection. Don't forget in the Grainger Market is the smallest Marks & Spencer store. No Greggs stottyrama these days though, probably showing my age with saying that.
There are a handful of great street food stalls selling food from different parts of the world here. Sadly, there isn't much in the way of shopping. There are some nice shops, but don't expect a lot. It's fairly quiet - definitely not a busy, bustling market.
Depends on what you want from a market. It's changed so much over the years from shops to multi cultural eateries so as a market, not so good but if you want different types of food then its good. Nice to see a few shops like Lindsays fish shop, Pumphreys coffee and the pet shop are still there.
Newcastle at it's best, wonderful selection of food and stalls. Local and community owned and operated. Elsewhere Newcastle seems to have fallen foul of several huge 80's and 90's 'Shopping Malls/ Retail Parks' great for national and international chains yet soulless, sullen and corporate. This market is a refreshing change from that, it was fantastic to see independent businesses thriving in this community use space.
It's a clean, friendly, well decorated market with special atmosphere. Good place to buy some fruit, vegetables, pastries and meat. There some cafes to pass your time.
