"Independent and family-run, we are three brothers and a friend who set out on a journey to create genuine neighbourhood trattorias reminiscent of the fabulous family-run places of northern Italy, where we all grew up.we opened Gotto on the banks of the River Lee Navigation in Hackney Wick in May 2016.We serve a daily-changing menu of pizza, hand-rolled pasta, quality British fish and meat and seasonal Italian ingredients.Our pizza dough is made fresh every morning using only water, salt, yeast and flour.With our home-made vermouth and our signature bottled negroni, we're a little slice of the Italian Riviera on Canalside Hackney Wick."

Our food was good, the service good - there was a nice chilled atmosphere. We had burrata with tomatoes, pork meatballs, rocket and Parmesan salad, vegetable risotto with real Parmesan plus Napoli pizza. We had a large bottle of sparkling water and a macchiato. With the service charge it was under £60 - which is excellent in these troubled times. The only reason I’ve taken two stars away is because; the pizza arrived late and burnt plus some of the ‘greens’ were too stringy to swallow. I was also told that a vegetarian risotto was the same as a vegan risotto and there was no cheese in either. Thankfully the waitress checked with the chef and it was confirmed there was cheese and I could have real Parmesan.
We have been here a few times now and each time it has been great. The staff are super friendly and accommodating, the atmosphere is always buzzing and the food is amazing. They do fresh pasta dishes, pizza's and salads
The location is just amazing, beautiful spot to enjoy a meal with a family. The food is absolutely delicious, we were delighted by the service and the personal recommendation by the chef Mauritzio. Pasta was to Italian standards and the tasty pizza completed the experience. Great food at reasonable prices, definitely coming back soon!
Gorgeous location just by the canal perfect for taking in some sun whilst sipping on a spritz! Restaurant staff were super attentive and friendly and the food was delicious. Deep fried squid was light and crispy, I could have ordered an extra portion for sure. I also had the veggie pizza, the crust was just right and the quality of ingredients good. My two friends got the prawn spaghetti with courgette and chilli which is currently a special - they both loved it and both agreed the chef should add it to the regular menu ! I will be coming back very soon. Recommended!
My new favorite resto near me! So happy I found this. The arancini was soooo flavorful. The pizzas were incredible - so full of flavor and perfectly balanced. And the tiramisu was probably the best I’ve had. Perfect for a date night for my fiancé and I. The staff was also super friendly. Will definitely be back soon!!
Straight on the canal, this place is a treasure in terms of location. Food speaking is a dream, you can immediately notice at first bite that the best ingredients are right in your dishes. We had the Porchetta, the Amatriciana and we taste the famous Pasticciotto with custard cream. The pasta is homemade and was cooked perfectly. The staff was very family friendly and the atmosphere very relaxed. Strongly recommended
Amazing spot in Hackney Wick by the canal! Very friendly and welcoming staff team, short and on point menu selection. We’ve been sharing lots of plates and all were absolutely delicious Thank you Emilia for looking after us, we will be back soon xx

Good casual italian resto with river side views. Pizza big with good amount of toppings. Fresh pasta with unique flavour profile. Overall 4 Flavour 4 Ambience 4 Value for money 4
What a great Italian restaurant around the neighbourhood area. Really tasty spaghetti carbonara very freshly prepared pasta and the sauce was tasty. Was hoping for more pasta but it’s been a great place to come for great Italian food.
