Gomshall Mill

About

A beautiful timber-framed mill situated on the River Tillingbourne. You'll find a warm welcome, a decent wine list, and good honest food cooked with care.

Story

Gomshall Mill is a beautiful timber-framed pub, sitting quite literally upon the River Tillingbourne. The history of the building goes back to Anglo-Saxon times (and that's just the manager, Andy). In a previous incarnation, it was a tea room and antiques shop and now we serve discerning diners and have our own resident antique (Andy, again, I'm afraid).
With a truly picturesque and spacious cottage garden, nested within the Surrey Hills, we serve local ales (including local brewer Tillingbourne's), a good qaulity selection of wines and some cracking food lovingly created by our chefs. Food is served from 12 o'clock throughout the day, come rain or shine, flood or drought... (yes, it has flooded in the past...)

"Situated on the River Tillingbourne and surrounded by stunning countryside, this beautiful timber-framed mill dates from Medieval times. Now part of the New Dawn Pubs collection, the pub is being fully refurbished and renovated, ensuring it has a long future as a part of the local community and as a destination pub."

So glad this place is open again after a refurb by new owners I assume. Staff couldn't be more attentive and friendly. Food delicious, and of course the location fantastic. They have a loyalty scheme that seems very generous too. Would happily recommend.
Fantastic to see the Gomshall Mill having reopened under new management. The refurb looks great. There’s a stylist and bright new bar and new toilets but the well loved historic interior is unspoiled. Food is definitely better than before. Website advertises bottomless yorkies with Sunday lunch and the roast beef comes in generous thick slices.
Under new management and wonderful! Went for late lunch yesterday and was served quickly. The inside is beautiful as well. My partner loved the Ox Cheek and I had a yummy starter tart and dessert. Thanks guys!
Lovely little pub, excellent after a long country walk. Dog friendly and excellent food and portions, highly recommend the camembert starter to share.
We just went there for a cup of tea, the first thing we got told was that they are operating with skeleton staff, and if we sat outside in the back garden it will take up to an hour before we get noticed. Even though it was a very nice hot day we decided to sit inside and get served quickly, but only the tea arrived quickly, and after over half an hour we had to remind them about the sticky toffee pudding. But we decided to just enjoy the coolness of the building, and not let anything effect the lovely chats we were having.
Have just enjoyed lunch for five people at the Gomshall Mill first time back since re-opening and without exception all the dishes we ate were excellent, the service was impeccable and the new refurbishment is beautiful. The impression is of a very well run team of skilled and passionate people, who together create a most enjoyable experience. No hesitation in recommending.
I have dietary requirements and the staff could not have done more to put my mind at rest and ensure I had a lovely meal. The food was hot, our party of 10 was well looked after and all meals arrived at the same and all of high standard. Thank you all at the new Gomshall Mill. Good job well done. Highly recommend.
Stunning building and a menu to match Recently been refurbished and the overall feel of the place retains character which is important for a setting such as this Food and drink wise you’ll be well catered for no matter your dietary preferences The staff are friendly and attentive, Liam in particular was helpful in resolving a mistake made with our bill It’s the people like this that are a real asset to the establishment and overall experience Would highly recommend checking this places out for food and drinks
Friendly Staff. Absolutely incredibly good quality food. And Lovely Warm Atmosphere.
Wonderfully easy experience from booking to ordering & payment. All done through 2 simple QR Codes when you get to you table: 1 for checking in and 1 for ordering food & drinks! We had the steak burger and the crispy beef salad, which were both presented nicely and tasted amazing. I was especially happy with the crispy beef, as I was expecting something like the standard takeaway meal you can order at home. This was a massive step-up from that, so incredibly satisfied! Staff were very helpful and even though they were short-staffed, they still had time to check back and make sure everything was OK with our lunch. Many thanks and will be coming back : - Bex/Josh
