Visited The Golden Lion in Southwick today — what a winner! From the first call to the moment we left, the experience was fantastic. Russell, who took our booking, greeted us with real charm and even a handshake — such a nice personal touch!. The menu offered plenty of choice without feeling overwhelming, and our waitress looked after us beautifully throughout. The food was delicious, the Golden Ale went down a treat, and the whole place had a welcoming, genuine vibe. I only wish I lived closer — I’d definitely be a regular! Thanks to Russell and the team for a great visit. I’ll be back soon. Mikey and Terry
Came back to this pub. Again, absolutely fantastic.nWe ordered a seafood platter for two. Fresh nice texture on batters on each food element. Served in a great looking way.nI cover 20- 50 pubs restaurant hotels in my job role. Per month.nThis pub has to be one of the best.nThe location is excellent set in a small quaint country village.nThe pub itself large open fire good outdoor spaces.nExcellent professional, friendly, polite staff. Always willing to help.nThe manager has an excellent character. Makes himself approachable gets involved.nThis is how a public house should be run.nBring back pubs like this .nI would highly recommend coming here.
Went to the Golden Lion, Southwick for the first time in Dec 2024. I'm gluten free/coeliac and had checked they could cater for me. Nothing on the menus with gf but very helpful staff checked with the chef and presented loads of options. Party of 4 all agreed this was a very good find - the food was truly wonderful possibly the best I've had in the whole of 2024 and the staff all friendly and very relaxed none pushy service. Hoping to go back in January as been dreaming about the food since.
Great pub, we didn't stop for Sunday lunch but appeared very popular. Bar was traditional, atmospheric, friendly and comfortable. Wide choice of Palmer's beers, Tallyho and 200 included.
Just had the best Sunday lunch ever, honestly! The food was absolutely delicious and cooked to perfection. The company was great too, which always makes a meal better. Feeling super full and happy right now, ready for a cozy afternoon. Definitely a perfect way to spend a Sunday!
