Fantastic service and good quality food! We waited for 20 minutes on a busy Saturday morning as we forgot to book… however, it was definitely worth the wait! The girls serving us were so lovely to talk to and took great care of us and the food was super tasty! It was my first time having breakfast in Saffron Walden and I can’t wait to go back for another, here at Gluttons!!
This place is a hidden treasure. Clean and simple decor. Worth the money for the experience of quality food, customer care and away from hussle of outside, yet right in the middle of it. All the staff were so friendly and causally welcoming. Not false. You could see they took pride in working there and genuinely wanted to please the customer. Amazing quality of food and no changes were too much. I ordered smashed avocado, with pouched eggs and completly changed everything apart from the avocado! It was delicious and plentiful that I couldn't finish it. Definitely the best breakfast I have ever enjoyed. Just wished I lived local!
My wife and I visited as we have heard good things about Gluttons. The premises are accessed from the street by a set of stairs, so if you have mobility issues it could be a problem. Once inside, the premises were bigger than I was expecting. I thought it was also quite busy for a Thursday lunchtime. We were quickly seated. The atmosphere and decor was a mixture of old world beams and smart, I think I would have preferred a bit more of the old world. It took some time for order to be taken, but the drinks and food were delivered quite quickly. We both had a coffee and cheese scone. Both were pretty good but nothing special compared to other establishments in Saffron Walden. The prices were a bit on the high side, but not extortionate. Overall there's no reason why I wouldn't be happy to go back, but I probably wouldn't as I have other establishments in SW that I prefer.
Had the big breakfast it was absolutely unbelievable black pudding was excellent went down very well with an orange juice from a local business which was nice to see and a nice hot cappuccino. Waiters and staff were 5 star very friendly and as I paid my very cheap bill at the end considering the quality of the food , I noticed a cake display which looked amazing as well. Would definitely recommend and can’t wait to come back.!!!
Went for afternoon tea for my Mum's birthday. Food was amazing and the girls who work there were brilliantFood: 5/5
Housed in one of the town's oldest Inns, which for many years was the town's longest running, favourite restaurant Hoops, this quirky first floor now hosts Gluttons who, following a long absence due to a flood yes, on the first floor have returned with open arms. Their smiling, warm service and delightfully tasty offerings for all dietary needs provides the town with a refreshing change to your standard, noisy coffee machines and plastic wrapped paninis.
My Fiancé & i went here today for the very first time. We had wanted to go here for a little while & try it out & we was not disappointed. Lucky we booked our table before hand as it was very busy when we walked in, however we noticed how people where willing to wait in the queue so that certainly gave us a positive feeling. Queues went down very quickly. We would probably always book though just to make sure a table is free. However you can just walk in. The food is amazing , so tasty and we both only had a tuna toastie with salad nice sauce on salad also. It was just so tasty with the onions mayonnaise etc. i had a chai latte to drink & my fiancé a coke. The staff where brilliant. You could see them all working as a great team all willing to make your experience in Gluttons a really nice one. Decor very nice . Everything great. We will definitely be returning here. Parking: You can park near by in one of the main car parks . We paid £2.00 for up to 4 hours which my Fiancé & i thought was very good .
Wow. A real gem of a place. Staff are amazing and attentive. Prices great for the standard and quality of food. Food choices are wonderful especially being a vegetarian. Lots of choices for all tastes. I had Charlotte as our waitress and she was absolutely lovely. Offered up her advice on the food. I opted for Jacket with Cheese & Garlic Mushrooms, deliciousness on a plate. My friend had a Toastie. Very good too. Atmosphere was great and calming. I am definitely coming back when next in the Saffron Walden area. Sorry Charlotte!! Chatty Paul x. Been back since and again. Gluttons was Excellent. Charlotte off on well deserved rest and service given by Thordice was amazing. Hope I spelled her name correctly. Be back again soon.
Fantastic food, coffee and service! Our new go for Monday lunch! Generous portions :
I had a craving for cheesecake a few days ago. Having not found something to my liking in the town, I tried my luck at the Gluttons. There it was, a beautiful cherry ripple cheesecake, in the display fridge. The staff warmly and joyfully welcomed me in and introduced me to the range of cakes and other baked goods on offer. I stuck to my choice of cheesecake and that didn't disappoint at all. It was rich, creamy, not too tart, and of a decent portion size. I also liked the relaxing ambience with an original architecture featuring naked timber beams and pillars. The place was also spotlessly clean and I felt really COVID-safe there. Just before I left 5 mins to closing time, I also inadvertently got to witness how the Gluttons team extended the same kind of warm welcome to three diners who were looking for some proper food and drink. What the diners didn't realise was that the cafe was in fact closing, but the staff didn't give that away and continued to serve them as normal. I of course didn't say anything either and played along! It's just so heart-warming! This amazing level of customer care is a good enough reason for me to return to support this local, family business. And of course, I'll try more cakes next time! Thank you, the team at The Gluttons, you made my day!
