Great site. Touring pitches are all flat so no levelling needed. Lovely warm showers in a spacious block, though you do pay 20p per 4mins. Short drive into Monmouth for shops & a Waitrose. Play park for the kids and lovely staff and guests. Will return. For those who need mobile data, no signal on Lebara which uses Vodafone, but full good signal for streaming etc with 3.
The worst part about this site is the poor parrot caged up by reception on its own, crying all day long. The worst kind of animal cruelty presumably for the entertainment of the kids. Its awful. The site is run down and poorly maintained with some of the pitches having smashed and dangerous paving slabs that could quite easily cause A serious accident. The pitches are right in top of each other with no privacy. The showers have been refurbished but aren't cleaned and we ran out of toilet paper on Saturday afternoon which hadn't been replaced by the time we left on the Sunday. Its 20p for a 4 minute shower which counts down as soon as you put the money in but it takes a good 30 seconds for the water to start running through. If you don't have a car there is nothing here, no shop, no accessible cycle route and there is a main road outside and a dual carriageway nearby so constant traffic noise. Wouldn't recommend
I've loved every visit to Glen Trothy park. It's a beautifully kept park with very friendly and helpful residents who aren't shy to give you a hand if you need it. Everyone is very kind and welcoming and and walking around the whole site you'll love looking at all the different gardens and decorative vans. The toilets are kept relatively clean. I also like that there is hand sanitizer outside each door outside the toilets, very handy. The park is located in a fantastic area with a short drive to the local town and a small business comes in on Saturdays selling local products on the site. There's a great play area for the kids with some great swings and climbing houses and an appropriate speed limit on site to keep them safe. It's amazing that is a pet friendly park and my dog has loved coming up with us. You're sometimes welcomed to a beautiful parrot enjoying the sun at reception and there are also cats which are reserved but beautiful. It's an amazing place however, I think the park should consider closing the toilet block windows at night to reduce the amount of night bugs getting into them. Also for a family friendly park, it's a bit strange to ban children's bicycles and scooters. That's a bit of a shame for them to be honest and possibly something to reconsider. Mandatory supervision would possibly be the way to go and see if it improves the situation. Thank you for a wonderful stay!
Changed my mind about keeping our caravan there after I turned up to close the van for winter only to find the place flooded. They didn't even bother to call me! They refused any refund on our deposit for this year and wouldn't even return any of our calls. BEWARE, THEY ARE ONLY AFTER YOUR MONEY. total disgrace. On a separate note the full service pitches work well but the cramped pitch sizes and loads of screaming kids at night along with lack of parking and privacy make this a site to avoid. Unfortunately I have to give them 1 star as zero stars is not available.
Fungus growing in the men’s shower, tiles missing, dirty wash area handbasins only one shower was suitable to use in the men’s area. Did washing, watched while using the washing machine, as another person removed their dog blankets. Toilets very dirty. If you stay make sure you take 20p as showers only take 1 pound or 20p, 1pound will run water for 20 minutes. Some showers you can turn off but most just run
Site ok, but facilities not kept clean. £30.00 a night for grass pitch and EHU but charged for showers which were muddy due to kids using it as play area. Reception very unhelpful and not really bothered to find out information. Signs around site saying no cycling, but not adhered to. Would definitely not stay here again. Nearby activities: About 1.5 hr walk to Monmouth bus not very regular
Good site, great pitch, clean WC block, & friendly staff. It's located next to quite busy road.
A perfectly located camping and caravan site for exploring the local area and into the Forest of Dean and Wye Valley. Family friendly with a great little children's play area. No scooters or bikes allowed on site for children's safety. The lovely lady in reception was welcoming and very pleasant to chat to. A few unruly guests recently seem to have caused some less than positive feedback but overall we found the site pleasant and accommodating, despite having some loud neighbours ourselves. The toilets were a bit untidy at times, but I suspect guests themselves could be a little more helpful with this by moping showers after use etc. Perhaps an extra clean of the toilet block wouldn't go amiss each day. First thing in the morning the road next to the site becomes quite busy and noisy and you do get some lorry noise from the A40. We were also a bit disappointed that we couldn't get access to the river that runs next to the site but the River Wye isn't far away to explore instead. It would be lovely if there was a little convenience shop on site for every day essentials and sweeties for the kids. Thank you for a lovely stay.
Such a lovely quiet and relaxing site, which we love visiting, but just couldn't take away from the fact that the toilets and showers were really dirty and never had any toilet paper in them. During the middle of a pandemic, the toilets should be cleaned at least 4 or 5 times a day. No-one is going in to brush up the dirt and toilet roll all over the floor or fill up the toilet roll holders. Really really disappointed with this as this is not a cheap site and it is such a shame that the lack of hygiene and care about this really let's the site down. I hope the owners of the site really take into account the amount of complaints that have happened regarding this as so many people were raising their concerns.
This is such a lovely place. Time flies when you stay here. It's so relaxing in the sun, sat in your lounger with a cold bevvy. You can keep an eye on the little ones in the park too. It's dog friendly, but it is such a shame that some people look for dog friendly locations and then don't look after it and clean up after their dogs.
