My Grandad was in this care home for three months near to the end of his life, thankfully until we were able to move him. Throughout this time we watched him deteriorate very quickly. Every week there was another problem, we received phone calls almost daily with my Grandad in distress. Please, please think carefully and take this review into consideration before placing your family in this care home. My Grandad was left traumatised after his experience at Ghyllgrove. NOTE!!! My Mum wrote a non-abusive, honest review on Ghyllgrove, however they rejected it due to mention of 'negligence', which is concerning wondering how many others may have done the same, for the truth to be hidden from the public.
My dad went to Ghyll Grove Medway House in Sept 2019. His stay was awful and we are so sorry that my dad had to stay for the time he did. They stressed him out tremendously by ignoring his needs of the commode or that he was soaking wet. My dad went so downhill in there that we took him home. The only time you see them being caring and busy is when the inspection team are visiting and then all residents are up, cleaned, being fed and having a game of charades, they are very crafty. Do your homework before placing a loved one here.
My Father in law is currently receiving end of life care and I use the term care very loosely at Gilgrove he has been staying there for less than 2 weeks and although is continent now wears an adult nappy day and night, his call button has been disconnected, he has cancer and has pain relief in both a patch form and oral form to back up the patch, he has not been offered the oral medication for 5 days because his paperwork was lost moving from one unit to another, when we spoke to the nurse in charge on Medway whom was very uncooperative and persisted in over talking my husband when he tried speaking to her, we asked if there were any activities to stimulate the patients and were told yes there was an activity organiser in the lounge daily, my father in law has been left in bed for most of the time, he struggles to eat but there is not an alternative of soup instead, so he has hardly eaten a thing in 5 days, we cannot move him as there is no alternative, it is very distressing every time we visit.
I would love to be able to offer a review of their services but unfortunately, after an assessment and being given the impression that a place would be offered possibly a misunderstanding on the part of the patient, the offer was subsequently withdrawn with no reason given.
