Usually I really enjoy this place but the last time we went it was a shambles. Yes it was a weekend and yes they had a big table in but still only half the tables were used so there should have been plenty of capacity within the staff to handle the volume of business. But only one member of staff is allowed to seat people for some reason so while waiting with another family for 30 min to even be seated in a restaurant where only half the tables were being used is very poor. Also the other two young staff members were kicking their heals so to speak while the lady manager who was serving the large table brought out all of their meals on her own. After catching her in passing and asking if she would prefer for us to just sit down at one of the empty tables she requested we wait to be seated.... I just don't understand the logic and having worked in the service industry myself I feel they really let themselves down. In addition my fish was much more greasy than usual but because of past good experiences I am sure we will return and give them the benefit of the doubt. This poor rating is purely for this visit and not an overall rating.

Food was terrible, Mac and cheese burger tasted like an ashtray, less than a hand full of chips that were cold, service was good, I have used the take away attached for years and thought the restaurant would be of the same standard. Horrible experience of cuisine.

Food was nice. However the portions were all wrong... ordered a kids and adults fish chips an peas... waitress tried convincing me that my adults fish was thicker but in all honesty they were the same size... the chips wernt chunky as advertised ... the difference....? The difference was the price... even the waitress who brought us our meal tried to avoid us during our meal and failed to ask us if everything was ok.. don't thing I will go again... I'll go to the local chippy instead

Really love going to George's one of our favs BUT we're gonna stop going as we are fed up being referred to as GUYS !!!!! it is soooooo iratating we are not American !!!!!!! Grrrrrrrrrr

Great customer service. Best fish and chips for miles. Nice selection of craft ale too! Ten out of ten.
