I was staying in Exeter for a few days and chose to pop in here for food. I was interested to see what it looks like inside and if any of the original features were still in place. I ordered a jacket potato and paid for a topping of cheese. When my food arrived I had a jacket potato with cheese but no beans. Due to having a hypo I did not have time to sort this out so just ate my food. The food was warm at best but well presented. After eating, I approached staff who apologised and gave me a refund for the topping that I did not receive. The following day I came in for breakfast before leaving the city to head home. I have the staff member my table number and went to get my refill drink. I was waiting for my breakfast and wondering where it was. I was approached by staff asking what I had ordered as the person who I’d ordered my food with had put down the wrong table numbers and staff were unable to locate me. When my breakfast arrived again it was well presented but again it was warm at best. Due to the need of catching a coach soon I ate my food and promptly left. It’s Weatherspoon’s so don’t expect the Ritz but for that’s hot would be nice. It’s cheap and cheerful but would look at using a different Wetherspoon’s next time I’m in the city.
Lovely range of seating. Downstairs, upstairs and a nice outside area too. Tables weren’t clean but what can you expect it’s a spoons.
It's a converted Chapel in centre of Exeter. Plenty of room downstairs plus seating upstairs when open. Food was typical Spoons and service when ordered on app was pretty fast. Good value for money.
For a spoons it's one of the better ones. Food whilst basic and average portion size it's always hot and value for money. Some staff are so friendly especially an older guy. sorry , only describe him as slim and bald head. just one member of staff who's been there for a while female who obviously hates it. Bordering on rude every time. You know who you are. Maybe get her retrained by the guy above.
Love a Spoons sesh just like the next person. Was here on a very busy Saturday lunch time. Bar staff lady very friendly. Waiter boy who very sweetly carried my tray of drinks all the way out to our outside table was very kind and friendly. Had a good time as there was a stag group outside who asked us to try their drinking game with them. I would say the only downside was my friend had an inch square of his chicken piece slightly singed but he is rather fussy and it was all good because he fed it to a rather cute young Seagull who was out on her Birthday with her parents. Keep it up Spoons. Your ladies toilets were lovely. Well done cleaners! Xx
Fantastic building, really stunning. Bar staff super helpful, prepared fantastic G&T. Lost a star with the chicken burger, charcoal burger
Go here instead of the Chevalier. A Good Wetherspoons, but it's not quite big enough. If you get here at later than 8pm on a Friday or Saturday, good luck finding a table. Upstairs has a cool balcony section.
Top quality service super fast and amazing staff. I actually rate this place. Busy Saturday is no match for the hard working staff.
Had breakfast here recently. Ordered via the app which was easy and the food came quickly. Had the veggie breakfast. It was OK really, didn't like the veggie sausages. Service was good and staff polite. St George 's is a lovely place based on history etc. There was a fair amount of people present for breakfast. Only negative was the table and chair felt sticky. Probably from spilled beer. Interestly I was reading the magazine provided on the table, which states that wetherspoons has the best hygiene ratio in England. Smile. Coffee was OK and unlimited refills. Can't grumble.
Went there for a breakfast muffin, at least the egg was hot & runny. Shame food isn't served on warm plates, maybe it's a health & safety issue. Nice historic place to visit, just a bit noisy, could do with some nice fluffy clouds noise cancelling ones
