We travelled over 2 hours Today to test a demo drum kit and walked away with a purchase. I just want to personally praise and thank Olivia for her outstanding customer service. As soon as we walked in, she greeted us with a smile and said hello, which is always great after a long drive. We then went to look at the drum kits and I have a play. We sat down with her to discuss the availability of the kit, which some parts were out of stock. Olivia then got us a great deal on a bundle, which added to the already great experience. Olivia, you were amazing Today, never change. Any management reading this, she deserves some recognition, this is how all customers should be treated. Amazing 5+
Very helpful email exchange with Sarah-Jayne about allowing dogs in the York showroom and which brand and model of keyboards were in stock. As a result, I visited the York showroom on 5 June 2026 and, after speaking to a very helpful assistant should have obtained his name about what I was wanting and mentioning a couple of models I knew they had in stock, the assistant showed me the models and let me play them. He demonstrated the different voices available piano, organ etc and how to change from one to the other. He showed me, also, another make but when I played it, it was not for me so he took me back to the original make and left me to test them for as long as I required saying to fetch him if I had any questions. Left to my devices, I soon decided what I wanted and went to find the assistant to tell him my decision a decision with which he agreed as he said that, from what I had said, the instrument I had chosen was the best one. We then went through choice of stand, stool and pedal board. At no time did I feel under any pressure to buy. Indeed, the assistant asked if I could wait as one item I wanted was not in stock and to obtain the bundle deal, all items had to be taken at the same time. I was happy with that and was given a timescale for delivery to home free on this occasion rather than me having to go back to collect. Truly excellent service.
Disappointed with my recent experience purchasing a saxophone from Gear4music.nnI purchased a new Trevor James Evo saxophone for over £1,000 as an upgrade ahead of my Grade 6 saxophone exam. Within a couple of months, the instrument developed issues in the lower register, which both myself and my saxophone teacher identified as likely being caused by an alignment/pad issue.nnWhile customer service initially appeared helpful, the handling of the case quickly became extremely confusing. Over the course of the process I was told:nn* a repair could take 2–4 weeks,n* I may receive an exchange,n* a refund was being discussed,n* the instrument had no fault,n* and then later that the fault had in fact been confirmed and repaired.nnDespite specifically requesting written confirmation of the assessment outcome before any action was taken, a repaired instrument was dispatched back to me without my consent while I was away from home.nnAs someone preparing for a Grade 6 exam, this situation caused significant stress and disruption to my preparation. Most disappointing of all was the lack of clear, consistent communication throughout the process.nnI understand faults can occasionally happen with instruments, but for a purchase of this value, I expected a far more transparent and customer-focused resolution process. The process has not been resolved for over a month despite them confirming that I will receive a refund.
I have had mixed results with this company. Some items arrive the next day, others don't.nnDespite their next day delivery on the website I have had items arrive weeks later. They mislead you on the website. You place the order and then they change the delivery date.nnYou complain and they give you some useless stock answer. My band will be looking elsewhere after this last experience.nnOrdered 27th April, had 3 delivery dates so far, still not got the instrument nearly 4 weeks later!
Great customer service taking a potential one star review to five.nnHad ordered an item for my son's 21st that wasn't current in stock, so the available delivery dates were a little later than ideal with the last of the three days falling on his birthday. Although he wasn't arriving home until later, I was getting a little worried on the delivery, so checked via the chat and found the new delivery date was over two weeks away and hadn't been informed. So, obviously I was a bit frustrated.nnAnyway, I thought I would give their helpline a go and Joe was fantastic. It related to a backorder issue, but with a switching of things round offered next day delivery, albeit a day late. Luckily, I only live about 15 minutes from the store/warehouse, so he sorted it to be available for pick up on the same day.nnAlthough Gear4Music appear as a big online presence, the customer service was local, attentive and how things should be done. Also, I had never been in the actual store and it's pretty amazing in there and clearly not a faceless online distributor.nnI was tempted to knock a star off for the initial hassle, but had to give full marks for them sorting this out so quickly. I would definitely use again.
