This place used to be really good but has completely nose dived this last year or so. My son progressed a lot when he first joined but this last year he had not progressed at all and in fact was going backwards so we had no choice but to leave. There are just way too many kids and not enough coaches! There’s sometimes 40 kids and about 2 coaches who are either his 2 teenage children or people from his adult class who im not sure are qualified or licensed to teach kids either. The main coach himself is unfortunately more interested in cleaning his car, chatting away to other parents or taking pictures to plaster all over social media rather than teaching the kids, which is a shame as he is really good when he does go on the mat. It seems as this has just become a money making scheme for him now when before it was all about the coaching aspect. I know he will probably reply to this but you know what im on about. If you want your kids to go sit around for an hour then this is the place for you, sadly at the moment it’s not to learn Jiu Jitsu :
A second home to me! Stuart and instructors at Gracie Barra Halesowen are not only amazing with their tuition of Brazilian Jiu Jitsu, but also do such a great job at making you feel at home. Expect a family atmosphere in a great facility with one of the best strength & conditioning area's I've used in the country.
I've been at this gym for multiple years. High quality training, friendly family atmosphere, and a team of instructors that genuinely care about your development - all with decades of experience and proven track records of success in competition. Having trained at multiple gyms in the past, I couldn't recommend Gracie Barra Halesowen enough.
This is a well run school, knowledgeable teachers with a commendable linage. Welcoming for both adults and kids alike, from absolute beginner to advanced. My son has attended for over two years, now my two daughters and myself have joined. Brilliant gym facilities, GB wear shop on-site, well stocked choice of refreshments, kids play/entertainment area, I cannot recommend this school highly enough.
I been training at Gracie Barra Halesowen for over a year and I can honestly say it's the best thing I've ever done. It's a family run, family oriented gym with world class teaching. The functional fitness gym is brilliant with everything you need from weights to areo bikes to ski machines. My 12 year daughter has recently joined GB and absolutely loves it more than myself. It's truly an honour to be part of this family . highly recommended!!
A great family run martial arts gym that are very knowledgeable and helpful to all its students. All of the teachers/professors are at a high level and are extremely professional when it comes to teaching. I really enjoy the classes and have become great friends with all the students and professors that attend the gym. I can’t recommend it enough for all adults and children.
A brilliant gym, ran by Great people. Gracie barra halesowen offers much that others cannot. Whether you're looking to get into or improve your jiu jitsu or just improve your fitness, then this is the place to be. The teachers are extremely knowledgeable and highly skilled, you will never feel like you've wasted your time after a class. I would definitely recommend them for all skill levels and age groups.
A long standing, family first gym that caters well to both sport and self defence anti-bullying aspects of BJJ. A wide range of instructors providing a complementary mix of styles and focus, with many drawing on years of competitive BJJ experience. With a laid back, no pressure approach to new starters I can thoroughly recommend taking a look for yourself if your are considering the sport / art.
Started training here earlier this year and I’m so glad I chose this gym, It’s a great set up with brilliant facilities. The level of instructors here is amazing, from the owner Prof Stuart to the likes of Marc Goddard and guests like Roger Gracie and Braulio Estima it doesn’t get much better than that!. Would also like to mention the welcome from the other members, everyone was so nice and welcoming it really put me at ease during my first few classes they’re a great bunch. I can’t recommend this place enough.
I have been training at Gracie Barra Halesowen for over 3 years. This gym has become a second home to me, the Jiu Jitsu is second to none. A team of 5 black belts covers every base a person could need to learn BJJ effectively. All members are welcoming, on my first session it felt like I had met a group of friends I hadn’t seen in years when in reality these people were all strangers. To summarise, if you want to invest in yourself and learn BJJ while making friends you can count on along the way, this is the place for you
