Came for the British Flowers Week installations. It was a beautiful space. The displays were lovely. Truly works of art. Learned a great deal about various designers and saw the Gardening Bohemia Exhibition too. Lovely paintings. Very inspired. Lovely garden too. Very nice restaurants where you sit amongst plants around a courtyard. Great experience.
The Garden Museum is perfect for gardening history lovers. There was so much to see and read, plus and in such a beautiful setting. There is a lift so ideal for wheelchair users to get around. I didn't try the food or the drinks, but they did look lovely. The tower was closed due to the weather, but there were plenty of other things to see and learn about.
Quite pricey entrance fee for a small-ish museum, but everyrthing you need to know about gardening and the history of the local area. Worth a look if you like a view: the small little tower has an outdoor viewing area which is worth the steep climb.
I really enjoyed visiting this fairly small museum next to Lambeth Palace. I came for an art exhibition, which I really enjoyed, but also really appreciated the view from the tower the building is an old church and history of the place. The collection has its origins in an elizabethan cabinet of curiosities which was opened to the public, and much of which subsequently went to form the nucleus of the Ashmolean Museum in Oxford. I quite enjoyed the gardening-related stuff too, but, you know, not as much as my mother would have done.
What a lovely, quiet museum + cafe! I wish I had discovered it years ago. I enjoyed it so much that I took a membership and I don't live in the UK. Fascinating and informative -- the museum is a must-visit for garden lovers.Visited onWeekdayWait timeNo waitReservation recommendedYes
Small museum dedicated to gardening in a former church next to Lambeth Palace. Very pretty. Climb 131 steps to the top of the mediaeval tower for London views. Nice on-site cafe.
Cozy museum focusing on the art of gardening in Lambeth. We got in with the London Card and, honestly, we were impressed. I think it was built inside an old church, so the architecture is quite amazing as well. 5 stars!Wait timeNo waitReservation recommendedNo
I enjoyed my time at the garden museum! Very niche and specific gallery though — I found some parts of the gallery more interesting than others. The climb to the top of the tower was surprisingly nice! Though I do not recommend if you have any issues with balance as the stairway is quite narrow and the steps are somewhat uneven. The gift shop was also very nice, and the book selection good!
This musuem was lovely! A good amount of stuff to look at and history of gardening to read about. I'll be honest and say £15 entry free was probably a bit much for it but it's not a reason to not give it 5 stars still.Visited onWeekdayWait timeNo waitReservation recommendedNo
An interesting museum dedicated to the history of gardening. The people working there are very nice and friendly. I love the activities for the children to engaged with gardening from the early age. It was very interesting reading about Beatrix Farrand, who shared her first experiences of gardening with her grandmother who instilled in her great love and respect for the plants. The restaurant and coffee shop offers a daily fresh menu at reasonable price in a nicely decorated place surrounded by plants. You can even look at the chefs while cooking in an open area. When I was there they were preparing bread I thought it could be a brilliant area to have a cooking lesson there By the time that I arrived, 4pm, I was late for the delicious lunch of the day! On my bucket list to have lunch there soon As well the is a hall for hiring to have work meeting. I enjoyed sitting outside, nice & peaceful area while reading the stones on the floor of the courtyard. Few yards away across the road there is a small park “Old Paradise Garden” where you can see planters constructed by the “Garden Museum”
