What a gem! - A real piece of heaven!! We booked in for 3 nights as part of our Devon tour but we never left! - we stayed for the whole 10 days! I really can't say enough about this truly beautiful little campsite – tucked into a wee crook of the Avon river with it's rippling music to send you to sleep, Gara bridge campsite is quite an experience and it completely exceeded our expectations. This completely quiet and peaceful piece of rural Devon really suited us and our family. A 4 acre paddock for free running our dog, the wonderful 'camping den' (think of a 1950's beach hut but much bigger) for rainy days. Free fly-fishing on the Gara river (My son caught his first trout!), lovely information 'brief cases', (you can then take to your caravan for a good browse), the kiddies play and education area, herb garden to help you prepare some memorable meals. To be eaten on the outdoor dining tables. The facilities are simple but super with new showers and toilets just installed. Just up the road is the fine pub' at California cross for a good pub meal and Kingsbridge, Totnes and Torquay are all in easy striking distance by car. The owners' Paddy and Jenny, a lovely, kind young couple who really couldn't do enough to make sure our stay went well, visiting us every day for a couple of minutes chat and ensuring we had everything we needed. The whole experience was much more akin to 'glamping' but using our own caravan – we really loved it. Next years stay has already been booked! I really hesitated in writing this review, wanting really to keep this lovely find to ourselves, but in the end decided it would be unfair not to. A truly 5-star experience for anyone who loves the piece and quiet of the country!
