Beautiful museum 5mins drive from Edinburgh City Centre. Wheelchair friendly access. Set over 3 levels with a lovely cafe on the ground floor with a large outdoor seating area. Plenty of pictures and sculptures with information beside them for reading. Staff throughout museum are friendly and helpful. Definitely worth a few hours of your day.
Nice place, not too close to Edinburgh centre. The permanent exhibition was interesting. The outside space gardens was also very nice but it was closed you couldn’t walk but you could see it maybe because of the winter.
"The Scottish National Gallery of Modern Art is a must-see for art lovers visiting Edinburgh. The collection is diverse and impressive, featuring works from both local and international artists. The exhibitions are well-curated and provide a thought-provoking experience. The building itself is also a work of art, with beautiful architecture and grounds. Highly recommend checking out this gem of a museum. Make sure to have a snack at the cafe, the scones were delicious!
If you're a fan of contemporary art, then this museum in Edinburgh is a must-visit. You'll get the chance to view pieces by renowned artists such as Dali, Miró, Andy Warhol, Picasso, and many others. Admission to the gallery is free, and there's also a comfortable café located on the ground floor.
Superb afternoon spent wandering the surreal corridors of the gallery. Really there us so much here that you should plan to break for lunch and then continue as after a couple of hours your concentration wanders. Wonderful collection.
Lovely afternoon spent viewing a diverse range of artistic styles. Always great to see the Lichtenstein up close but found many new artists works to admire. Great selection of goodies in the shop and wide selection of books. Finished off the visit with a fabulous selection of filled rolls and brownies that were so tasty!
Beautiful contemporary art museum! Must see if in Edinburgh. Staff was friendly. Whomever is the curator for this museum really knew how to weave together all the different types of art work on display. At times I had fun just looking at the building structure itself. Glad they kept the integrity of the building and utilized the spaces well. They had many great artist on display. More than enough famous artist too! Salvador Dali, Yayoi Kusama, Max ERNEST, Anish Kapoor, Pablo Picasso, Andy Warhol, Helen Frankenthaler, etc. Fantastic landscaping! Walking around was a great joy!
Outstanding exhibits. This was definitely worth the trip. People are very friendly and helpful. You can easily spend a few hours in here. Check out these two exhibits. I found them fascinating.
A Gem Inside and Out - Nice eclectic collection of modern art. Very friendly staff. Beautiful grounds. Helpful Hint: Enjoy the art collection and then have lunch at the cafe. There is seating inside and out. The cafe also provides large blankets for a picnic on the lawn.
Two lovely galleries in great setting. Works are spaciously displayed. Helpful staff. Got me questioning what is art? Basically its anything you can get away with. Well worth a visit.
