Been coming here since they opened. Last time fish had thick white mush under the batter but just wrote it off as not everything is perfect in life. Time to try again today. £29 for regular f and c and a large haddock, 5.15pm 22nd Jan. V quiet and no queue. So, not sure why we had to pay for cold very very bone dry sawdust chips. I would put money on it they are reheated. Like cheap oven chips. Just gutted and will never ever eat here again. Fish was v good but it’s an entire meal and the simplest bit was unloved and not fit for a dogs dinner.
Fantastic fish and chips. The small option at £8.49 in July 2024 is plenty for me with enough chips for reheated left overs the next evening. The fish batter is light and tasty and the fish is flakey and moist. Food is cooked to order but you can phone ahead. Highly recommended. Parking: If no room on the street close to the chippy, go across the road to the ADSA Express petrol station which has a few parking bays on the left as you enter.
I've tried this place a few times now and the only thing that is any good is the customer service from the girls that serve. The chips are abysmal, so is the batter that's hard a rock and barely covers anything they batter. I ordered a battered sausage and chicken nuggets recently. The sausage wasn't even battered after my 10 minute wait, realised when I got home as it was packed before I could see it. You could literally put a window through the chicken nuggets. I've ordered the chips a few times and each time they've tasted like they were cooked yesterday and microwaved warm. If a chip shop can't even serve good chips then why are they even open?? The worst part though is the price which suggests you're going to be getting quality food. It's clearly priced the way it is because the locals have a bit of money to spend, that's the only reason I can think of. Worst chip shop I've ever been to. I'm done wasting my money giving them another chance to not suck
Frydays in Leeds Street Lane is a hidden gem! The fish was cooked to perfection - crispy batter and flaky fish. Chips were golden and fluffy. Generous portions and friendly service. A must-try for any fish and chips lover!Food: 5/5

The very best Haddock and Chips I've ever had and I've had loads. Flaky fish and big chips full of taste. Terrific value together with terrific extremely friendly customer service. Super clean and feel so glad that ive found this wonderful venue. Thank you.
Absolutely magic. Really good fish and chips. Fish was fresh, flaky and nicely cooked. Batter was just right, crispy lite and not soggy. Mushy peas and chips are great. Staff were super nice.... It's also very clean and modern inside, so we decided to eat in. Really recommend this place.
Always such a pleasant experience when we go here, the staff are so friendly and always in a good mood even when it’s super busy and they’re stacked, they work like a well oiled train! 10/10 from usFood: 5/5
We got standard fish and chip and they was not the usual standard as it was dry fish think it was old and chips dry and cold it’s happened a few time I won’t be return as it hit and miss this place.Food: 1/5
Brilliant fish and chips! The variety of portion sizes for fish and chips was great. Standard was a very decent portion size for the price! Chips were freshly cooked, not soggy or hard. The fish was very tasty, no bones, the batter was thin and crispy and not greasy. The team working there are very friendly and we will definitely go back!
