The only good thing if you get the right people receptionist it's who want to help and support with perscripptions and guidance, support. I haven't spoke to a real doctor for a long time. As all the doctors and clinicians want now is money. I am on nhs, so I shouldn't have to pay anything. I noticed this on the patient access. I have been without one medication since April'24. I have done 2 reviews on mediction. When I think one is required. I called the surgery about that mediction which is important and to be told it had not been added on. So that receptionist put it up and I got that medication the next day. On the order medication it said I was last issued in June '24. But i found out I was without it from April'24. I have been accused of being a liar for a doctor who was shouting at me on the phone. She put down I felt like I was being shouted at and it was a discussion. I even at my old address had a phone call from that doctor. And ended up with someone else's information. Which I reported that doctor at that time. I have been told by another person sat in her office and she felt disheartened in what I was saying and said she would remit what our conversation were in writing and if I wish to go to another surgery. And I said call me with your side of the information and would not waste her time to talk to me over as she didn't want to waste her time on a phone as she had better things to do. She also wanted to remit what i and her self back and fourth. I said you can not do that as it's a legal document. That's it for now folks.
I've been at this surgery since I started university. They used to be brilliant with some fantastic doctors Dr. Trafford, Dr. Thornhill, Dr. Hughes. Since getting a new partner, Dr. Gummow, this practice has gone downhill very fast. This particular doctor talks over patients, shouts at them, threatens to remove from the register if they're not willing to speak to her and is wholly unpleasant if a patient doesn't agree with anything she is suggesting. She becomes very argumentative and aggressive. It's a total abuse of her position. Having complained to the practice manager in the past 1st time ever because of Dr. Gummow, they have reviewed her phonecalls and don't believe there to be a problem. I haven't actually 'seen' a doctor since COVID as they only tend to make phonecalls now. On a mental health call, Dr. Gummow ended up shouting and becoming aggressive again. This women is a danger to the local community. I'd just like to add that all the other staff: Doctors, health practitioners, locum nurses and reception/admin staff have always been fantastic; they're courteous and helpful. This 1 member of staff, Dr. Katie Louise Gummow seems to be the one that everybody is reviewing about and calling her a bully. She definitely lacks social skills and bullies her way through phone conversations. She would benefit from being trained on how to speak to patients as they are the customer, without them, there is no practice. I think her belief that as a partner bringing 50% of the patients to the practice, she can behave in a condescending manner. Dr. Trafford's voice message upon calling the surgery states that "abuse of any kind won't be accepted by the staff" however it would do well for the staff to treat their patients with the exact same courtesy. Update: Dr. Trafford called me to speak about this matter however we disagreed on whether or not Dr. Gummow's behaviour is acceptable and I have been asked to find another practice which I've agreed to. They believe my review is a form of bullying and asked me to remove it, I have updated it instead as it is factually correct from my point of view. The practice nurse and mental health nurse have not left but are away at the moment. I've changed it from a 1* to a 2* star in light of the fact that previous to Dr. Gummow's partnership in the surgery, I would've given it a 5* rating. It's a shame it has come to this but I am not willing to be bullied and they don't think there's a problem.
Absolute disgrace. Phoned up and put through to a doctor. She spoke over me the entire time in a condescending and rude manor. Shouted at me and hung up the phone. I have worked in customer service related jobs and have a diplomatic way in which I speak over the phone. I kept calm and spoke with respect despite this doctor speaking to me with none herself. Abhorrent behaviour and will be followed up with an official complaint.
So disheartened by this practice, rude condescending receptionist, lack of communication or care plan on newly diagnosed matters , wrong prescriptions a few occasions and a majority of consultations are either via text or phone which sometimes not appropriate. Now moved practices after 20 odd years- shame!
Fantastic service today. I had a medical issue so completed the online form. I had a response really quickly, including a text update, a Pharmacy call and a prescription, all before 5pm. Brilliant and thank you.
After the “Covid renovation,” the clinic turned into a pointless place. “eat garlic and don’t eat sugar»- last centuries the doctor’s treatment for preasthmatic cough it’s all what I got on appointment.
Shocking practice, never ever addressed any issues as they should have done for months on end for numerous serious issues, offering absolutely 0 support and they are rude . Had to remove myself as a patient and go elsewhere as it is just so terrible
Got to be the worst doctors going! Your head needs to me literally hanging off before the doctor will even see you! Even then will probably ask if you could ring the chemist before to see if they can do anything. The place is so unwelcoming, got the placed locked down like you’re about to enter a prison. Never actually been through the prison doors as I can never get to see the doctor. Don’t even know why they call their selves a doctors. They don’t want to help you at all. Would advise never to use these. Awful awful doctors
Utterly rude! Wouldn’t see my 6 month old when I shared concerns and told me “I don’t want to see him”!!
Ever since COVID-19 this surgery has never been the same! The service is poor and has gone downhill a couple off the doctors are really good but their is 1 doctor that I always seem to get Dr Gummow I don't know if she is fed up! But she doesn't care, listens to your needs plus never really wants to help!!! Everything is COVID or viral.... Anyway I seem to get her for everything with no positive outcome or help given. One day she wouldn't listen to me and then she was very rude and terminated the call! so I had to take myself to the walk in centre and within an hour I was seen by a doctor and given a prescription for multiple items...... Dr Gummow said their was nothing wrong with me and dismissed anything that I was saying. Shame on her Why is it such a pain to be seen or treated within this Friargate surgery? I have been at Friargate Surgery for more then 10 years and these last 4 years have been a joke.
