We had carvery and on Mother's Day it was also the desserts and drinks included in the price. Very welcoming, the food was good, and the staff were doing everything you would expect and more. The space was clean and the dog friendly area as well, lots of room and comfortable. Thank you.
Initially the wait time was quite a while. 35 minutes but when the food came it was boiling hot and very tasty! Would recommend. Sadly no turkey but the pork was still nice, beef slightly on the dry side.
Tonight a party of 11 just rocked up to celebrate a birthday meal. The staff couldn’t of been any more helpful and accommodating.Very friendly staff, great service and nice taste food. Very nice visit and would definitely be go back If in the area again. Thank you to all the staff.
Return visit? You must be joking! More like the Fartispew arms, only saving grace, nice roast parsnips, astonished it was fairly busy. Never again, not for me, stinks as well! Had the Carvery on a Sunday, been in there many times place has got worse every time, if there was a "Carry on Pub" film they would film it here! Sure I saw Sid James behind the bar!
Absolutely first class. Great staff, Landlord and venue. The beer and other drinks selection is excellent and well priced. Six of us had different things for dinner and they were all delicious, well cooked and generously portioned. The Chef is the Landlords son and cooks everything from scratch - even the gravy for the little ones sausage and mash was home made and not a granule gravy. Very impressed indeed and will be back!
We went in as a family of 6 we were welcomed and conversation between us and staff was very friendly . Meals ordered were amazing home freshly cooked meals, veg all fresh not frozen. Our 2 dogs were welcomed and water offered. Cannot praise you all enough thank you
We popped across on a Sunday evening after arriving at a campsite nearby. We had the roast which was delicious, just what we needed after a day travelling. The pub is very dog friendly. Very attentive staff who can't do enough for you. From the outside it does look a little run down but you will be pleasantly surprised when you cross the threshold, lovely, clean and cosy feeling pub. Will definitely visit again if we're back down that way!
This place is excellent, don't be put off by the slightly run-down exterior, you won't regret it. Food is excellent; great value for such generous portions, fresh and home made, fresh vegetables and the staff are amazing. They really made us feel welcome and went above and beyond with our kids. We're here on holiday and are gutted it's too far to come back more regularly!
Me and my Family Came to The Fortescue Arms to have a meal, as we were staying at a local holiday park. This was one of our only local food options, as Woolacombe was a 30 minute walk on a dangerous road with no pathways. We came on a Thursday night to have a carvery as they serve carverys on Thursday nights. The Owner who was serving the carverys was very friendly and was dedicated to his job. On to the food. The carvery had quite a few options. The food didn't look too great, but don't be put of by the looks. The meat was decent and the veg was quite tasty. I very much enjoyed the Yorkshire Puddings and potatoes were quite nice. But as a fussy eater I didn't like the gravy, but I'm sure my family would say otherwise. The gravy was the only downfall to my meal. Overall was decent but it was made better by the fact that it was the only local restaurant/pub other than the Old Mill which was always running out of food. I recommend Trying if local
My family and I have visited this pub while staying in the area several times over the years. Carvery is always good with a nut roast and veggie gravy available for vegans and vegetarians. Chef happy to point out what oil/sauce veg has been cooked in. Could use some investment in the presentation of the pub as it's quite dated, and more vegan options for non carvery days, but staff are friendly and food is good.
