The place to go if you want to get photos of kingfishers. You might get lucky and see one quickly, you might have to wait many hours, but generally if you're patient you will be rewarded. The first hide is best as the perches are a lot closer.nnNice walks around the area as well, with beautiful colours along the old canal and you can loop around to the river Taff. Plenty of other wildlife around and kids will enjoy the hides when the rabbits and squirrels turn up.
Amazing place for birds. The taff trail goes right through it too. The hides were tricky to find as it was my first time there, but the locals were happy to help. I got some lovely photos. I even saw wild rabbits and quite a few different birds that I didn't photograph like woodpeckers and herons. There is a picnic area where you can park. All in all a great first visit.
The go-to place if you want to see some local wildlife, tonnes of bird varieties & the hides are decent too. Highly advise sticking around to see the kingfishers! Amazing little things. Also, the smaller more common birds will happily eat out of your hand if you take some food along.
A great walk along the canal and a lovely place to watch and listen to birds. There are 2 hides on this walk and if your lucky you may see a kingfisher. Lovely Spring flowers in the hedges. You can continue to the River Taff.
Nice place to visit, very quiet. Nothing there except nature and a beautiful river. The weir contains a hydroelectric plant, but it wasn't working when we visited, not sure if it normally does.... easy parking and plenty of open spaces to walk around and enjoy
