The Family at the Folly offers the type of service and hospitality that most pubs did in the countryside 40 years ago when I first migrated to the UK. The location is lovely as it is right in the country. About 10 minutes from Southam and 20 minutes from Rugby. And sits on the Oxford, canal. Going inside the pub is like stepping back in history to a time where publicans proudly hung. their polished bras mementos and plate rails held beautiful works of crockery, paintings, and photographs Now let’s get to the grub. We all ordered burgers and chopsI will say not just any burger. or chip, our 10-year-old daughter commented on the texture and the crunchiness of the chips. And on the robust flavour and juiciness of the burgers. Oh snd the plates were steaming hot. We’ve been several times since and sampled there beautiful Sunday roast. The service was great as well. It’s a must go for anyone who wants to get a feel of what pubs were like in days gone by.
Beautiful canal side pub with a stunning interior full of unusual items and memorabilia. Imagine a trombone hanging from the ceiling juxtapositioned with a chamber pot! I loved the innovation of luggage labels hung from the ceiling with customers home countries of origin. The main building which is possibly early Georgian has Adam fireplaces and could even be late Tudor. There are external facilities for additional dining and attractive outdoor seating areas
What a joy to visit - impossible to know this gem is there wandering around the village as it's quarter mile up the country road to the east. Great old school pub area and newer potting shed garden bar area. Selection of naturally Napton cider and beers. Good quality home cooked food. A lovely place to spend an afternoon by the canal
Lovely pub in a perfect spot on the canal. Thoroughly enjoyed lunch in the shade of the Potting Shed. Really worth a visit. Accommodation available. Would visit again
A superb "proper" pub, we came for Sunday lunch on Mother's Day, the menu is simple but good, Chicken, Beef or a Veggie option for mains, very much a "keep it simple, do it well" approach which they achieve perfectly. The dessert menu is slightly more expanded, with 5 very tempting offerings, I could have had all of them without complaints! Added bonus of the Napton Cidery just being up the road meaning they have a superb selection of cider to drink!
Proper British pub with local real ale. Full of character. Also has "the potting shed" which is a large fancy outdoor potting shed themed... Bar? Or cafe? Which has a great vibe with an abundance of plants, eclectic furniture, and twinkly lights. Does excellent little one person cheese boards, cakes and the like. Plenty of interesting spirit options and tea/coffee, if that's what you're into. Also there's a kind of pavilion I presume for private events, and outdoor benches for sunny days. We'll worth a visit.
A very enjoyable evening spent in the garden, the marquee was spacious and service prompt. There were various groups there when we arrived and the music and atmosphere lively!
Very traditional pub, a warm welcome from staff, in lovely location at Napton. Excellent Sunday Roast, well kept Hook Norton ales. Tasteful Christmas decor and furnishings. We visited the Potting Shed afterwards, opposite the main pub building! This is really special facility! Has to be seen to appreciate! Well worth a visit, hope to call again soon! Kevin & Mary
Had an enjoyable lunch in their sunny garden. Service was friendly and helpful. Really enjoyed the visit.
Traditional canalside pub. Such a warm and friendly greeting by the landlady. Would definitely recommend and will definitely be returning. Dog friendly. Biscuits ready and waiting. Thank you for for such an enjoyable visit
