Be warned. No signs before the entrance. There are ANPR cameras that record your exact time of entry & exit. Mobile data & signal is poor here. It takes about 25 mins to park, install the JustPark app and enter payment details. The app & any text reminders will calculate your exit time from the time you paid in the app. The ANPR camera does not link to the app or contactless pay and display ticket machine. Whatever your payment method, you'll be scammed and receive a £100 parking charge notice reduced to £60 if you pay in 14 days when you return off holiday! You can't tell the app or the machine your time of arrival. I didn't see a Terms and conditions sign. I only saw a tarriff board. There is a separate Terms and conditions sign somewhere! Find it, read it and take a photo. If you receive a parking charge notice, it will say you overstayed and calculate that time from the moment you enter through the ANPR camera. The British Parking Association Code of Practice states you must have 10 minutes grace period at the end of a parking event before you issue a PCN. However, Initial Parking do not give a Grace Period. Cornwall Council is the land owner. Say say this is at the owners request! If you really must park here, stop your car before you go through the ANPR camera at the top of the hill and take a photo of your car with date and time for evidence. Ensure you have downloaded the JustPark app over WiFi before you get there. If you are staying local, I would consider paying whilst at your caravan or camping site or B&B etc, to prevent you not paying from time of entry to the time you paid in the app. Nobody wins appeals. Nobody wins POPLA appeals from what I read on reviews. I've had my appeal rejected & now submitted a formal complaint & cc'd Cornwall Council, British Parking Association, BBC, Morning Live, Rip off Britain, Scam interceptors, Martin Lewis, all candidates for general election in Kingswinford & South Staffs! Initial Parking company need to be exposed. They ruin people's holidays & scam money from them. That aside, Fistral beach is the famous surfing beach and is beautiful. Rick Stein's at Fistral is great for gluten free. Beach cafe serves breakfast and other food. There is a contactless machine opposite The Stable cider & pizza restaurant. I stood 10 mins in The Stable. A few staff looked at me but never spoke. I was by the wait here sign. I went to Rick Stein's instead who were very helpful and made me feel welcome!
Great location next to the beach but be careful that you pay for the whole time you are in this car park from entering to exit to avoid being fined. In the holidays you often have to queue to find a space so you have to pay for this time as well.
Be warned they don't honour the 2 free hours, which is promised inside the car park for certain times of day. They also don't actually legitimately review your appeals. When we showed photos of the 2 free hours, they didn't say we were wrong or right, they just said 2 hours unpaid and rejected the appeal. We visited with 2 cars at different times over one weekend, both of which were falsely charged and both of which had falsely reviewed appeals who didn't look at or comment on our evidence whatsoever. This suggests to me that it is a systematic appeal rejection process behind the scenes. Thankfully when we went to the secondary independent appeal we won, but this has taken a ridiculous amount of time to sort.
Despite paying for 12 hours of parking, we still got a £60 parking fine. We waited at our car until 8am to make payment, as the app would not work until the car park was ‘open’ at 8am - and still got fined for arriving before we could purchase our ticket? We tried to appeal it but were rejected without any of our concerns being addressed. Really disappointed and will not be returning to that car park.
Received a fine because I didn't pay parking within 8 minutes of driving into the car park.nTook me 5 minutes to find parking, 10 minutes to download and register the app and then I paid for all the time I was there. So I've paid for parking AND a fine... appeal declined. Be careful
