I went to this place a while back, I don't know if it's still under the same ownership. There were two people there at the time. A female and a male. The male who served me I would guess a 50's something Kurdish male from Turkey. I only eat halal food and there was a sign on the window with the word 'halal' written in Arabic so that's why I went in. I noticed that some of the packaged food was not halal, as I know the company. So I wanted to then check if the fried chicken they have is halal so I asked the man if the chicken is halal. He told me that everything in there is halal. Which then I said about the items I could see packaged and said that they are not halal. He took it out and gave it to me and told me to read it and to tell me where it says that it is not halal. I read it and told him that there is no reference to it being halal and that I know this company and their food is not halal. He said to me that I don't want to buy anything. I said how can I when he said all the food is halal and that this particular one is not. Of course I want to be careful what I eat so I ask first. He then said to me 'Go to Saudi Arabia if you want halal'. Of course there can be no mistake after he said that, that he lied to me. Clearly a comment that can be deemed islamophobic. There are places that are run by non Muslims that claim their food is halal when it is not. I've had this before from people who have lied purposely and I have tried to think that maybe he was not educated to know that it was not halal, even though that did not fit in with anything he said. However I don't think he made a mistake after his comment, So can't give him the benefit of doubt. Especially given his behavior in the way he spoke to me and that I never fell for his false claim which then led him to the comment which seemed like an admittance of deceit. Never went there again. I feel he was racist also. The way he spoke to me, even getting aggressive towards me was unacceptable.
