Fibber Magees is easily one of my favorite places for music and fun in Dublin! Live Rock bands almost every night, Snooker/Pool games, and a hopping bar. The place is a little bit dark and grungy it’s a rock venue so obviously they have to set the scene but they aren’t over the top about it. Didn’t get to try the food but had a few drinks that were good. You come for the atmosphere and music which delivers! and everything else is the cherry on top.
This place was my ‘check in’ many times in week. There is a variety of areas, inside and outside, where you can join with friends. You can seat, listen to rock or metal music, some days there is live music too. You can play pool and watch football. There is food too, like pizza, fries. Some days in the month there is reggae music or funk or electronic music that you can join but with pay ticket.
The modest music venue in this location, which frequently accommodates up-and-coming performers, is intriguing. There is an outdoor area as well as an additional outdoor area shared with two additional bars. Normally, it's a calm location, but when bands perform, the mood changes. It's wonderful to visit occasionally because the location is quite good.
Great place to have a beer, enjoy good music and have a good time
Great pub with really great people! there is a lot to do beside drinking check the lower level. Pool tables, but you have to Play with the winner, so most people are really good at it! Still met soooo nice people and had so much fun there. The prices were fair, good.
5 stars for the downstairs part only. Upstairs is a fine pub too, but there's the dance floor z there's the music... and people don't dance :O
The place overall is great, awesome vibe. We went last Friday to the Nu metal event, there were two DJs, the one with the green vest was fantastic! The one in the black hoodie clearly doesn't know what metal and even more Nu metal is, but we had fun overall.
Undoubtedly the best pub in Dublin bar none! Best staff, best crowd, always a friendly atmosphere, loads of pool tables, loads of great live music, best smoking area in the whole city, this place is a hidden gem of Dublin and will always be my #1spot
Definitely the best rock bar from Dublin. It's too crowded tho so it might be difficult to get a table. But the concerts that I've seen and the beers I've had I really liked been there.
I've always loved Fibbers since I started going in 1996. It has had it's flaws like moving us rockers downstairs in the late 90s to make way for normies upstairs. But some insightful manager finally realised what they had several years ago - a huge magnet for a sub-group people in a city full of more than enough normy bars and clubs and very few rock and metal clubs. So did what they always should have done and focused of their true clientele, us rockers, and made an absolutely fantastic rock club both upstairs and downstairs AND outside, with great music and great live acts and the one of best beer gardens in Ireland, I'd say. Speaking of that, please do not go ahead with the development of the beer garden to extend the hotel into that space. Please don't! It is a major part of what makes Fibbers so great, and I'm sure a large part of the attraction to the other bars that it is connected to.
