The train journey was lovely but when I bought the day rider ticket I expected the trains to be more frequent and the option to hop on and off more useful. In reality when we got to the top end of the line and got off to look around, the next train wasn't for 2hrs. With a 6 and 4 yr old in tow there just wasn't enough for us to do. For anyone else I would say though, there is the mining attraction if you come out of the train station and turn left and go down the hill. We didn't realise that was there until we were nearly out of time.

Great experience. The scenery along the journey is so beautiful. It's quite spectacular to see such old machine climbing the mountains! Make sure you upgrade one way to first class so you can experience both cabins.

Beautiful small village. At the time of my visit it was freezing and most of the shops and eateries were closed due to the Easter weekend. It's a good place to visit esp via the train. Nice scenic views, mountains covered with snow, waterfalls, lakes and rivers throughout the Journey.

Great place. Beautiful scenery. If you want to do both railways, best do them on separate days. The Welsh Highland Railway is a full day out by itself. You can get a 10% discount tag if you want to do the Ffestiniog railway on another day.

A fabulous journey with wife on a sunny day over weekend. Journey made better by friendly staff and fabulous facilities. Carriages weren’t too busy making the journey a pleasant one. I sampled the Welsh afternoon tea on our return journey which was delicious. The steam locos are wonderful, we got on the return journey narrow gauge two double-engine steam locos so it was amazing experience, the view from the train on Snowdonia...amazing, it is worth this money.
