Our trip on the Welsh Highland Railway was absolutely fantastic! The scenery was breathtaking, and what really made the experience unforgettable was the amazing staff—so friendly, helpful, and genuinely passionate about what they do. They went out of their way to make the journey special, and it’s something we’ll always remember. A must-do if you’re in the area!
A great way to spend a day out. Warm, welcoming, helpful, and supportive volunteers. I've put off doing this on a couple of previous visits, mainly due to the cost - I shouldn't have. Spectacular scenery, full of surprises. Not cheap mind, but well worth it.
What an amazing experience. We sat in first class, which provided outstanding views of the welsh countryside. So fascinating to see a coal powered steam train in action even the stop to top up the water was interesting. Whether you’re local or from abroad this is something that you need to try.
Absolutely fabulous day. started from Porthmadog and did the Highland Railway to Caernarfon & back. Stunning scenery, brilliant service on the train. Definitely would say do the experience
Beautiful restored steam trains which run every day. Various routes and lengths of journeys, most are return trips. Personally I found the trips expensive but for an enthusiast would be a must. Lovely cafe serving meals and light bites. Indoor and outdoor seating. Very well stocked gift shop with a nice selection of locally made gifts, books, maps and friendly, knowledgeable staff. Well worth a visit. Beautiful scenery.
