Me and the family had afternoon tea here at The Feathers Hotel for a birthday. The website promised us great food, but sadly it wasn’t up to our expectations. The scones were rock solid, which the staff did try and correct but they just tried to reheat them in the microwave from the looks of it which didn’t really help. There was way too much sweet food in regards to the savoury. Definitely could have added more sandwiches! A member of our group had a nut allergy, which was mentioned when we booked, but the staff said they were never told. Although, they dealt with it great! The staff were lovely and I would definitely go back for a lunch, but not afternoon tea.
Amazing food and great service. The food is freshly cooked on every order, and you can taste the difference because of this. The staff could not do enough for us. We are even looking at staying in the future because it was so good. Dog friendly too. HIGHLY RECOMMENDED Food & drinks: Amazing food.
Called in for drinks one night and food another night. The food was delicious, and staff very friendly and helpful. I have very seriously dairy and egg allergies, this was not a problem, our waiter checked ingredients and I had plenty of options, we were a party of four, fish and chips, Christmas Dinner. Chicken Parmo and the braised steak were ordered, all were delicious and all plates finished. I highly recommend the Feathers at Helmsley, we had a beautiful room in a little cottage behind the hotel, the staff were all friendly and helpful, food is amazing. We have eaten here a few times and it’s always excellent, the atmosphere is warm and welcoming. The location is perfect, we went to the birds of prey which is In walking distance, it’s a lovely place for a short break or weekends away, we will definitely stay here again
Popped in the other day for lunch, we were greeted by a waitress and a scruffy guy who said they were fully booked so he told me to go sit in the bar area with my son so we walked through to a table that was vacant, he then tells us to get up and move to the bar as it wasn't the bar! Their was no reserve on the table or anything. We have being coming to this place for years & my late grandparents used to come here, he made us feel like we didn't belong, my 7 year old was hungry so he told us to move so we just got our stuff and left. They have lost years of our custom now. Won't be coming back to this place again.
We stayed one night while travelling to Ruswarp. We were five adults, one baby and two dogs. We only have praise for the accommodation, the staff and the warm welcome we received. All of us agreed that the stay in the Feathers Inn was more than we expected. To add to that a note from me; I travelled to all EU Member States in my working life spending countless nights in hotels. But this one was the best within its price range. Try it out for yourselves. Sunday lunch was absolutely amazing, the best roast beef ever..everything was cooked to perfection. Hollie & Keith were wonderful, nothing too much trouble & great sense of humour..would highly reccommend & we will definitely return. Thank you. XService: 5/5
Absolutely delighted with our overnight stay here in room 3. We will definitely revisit the area and stay here again. Both our dinners and breakfasts were delicious. Together with the fantastic staff. Top notch all round Rooms: 5/5
Had an excellent Sunday dinner, and a couple of good pints. There are probably cheaper places to eat, but we all felt it was paying a little more for the quality, ambience and customer service.Service: 5/5
Turned up for food to be greeted by a horrible, gruff, scruffy guy who look more like a lumberjack than a restaurant manager!! I gave our name, said we had a reservation and then he snapped “you’re late” - which we weren’t - clearly the staff messed up our booking. He then made a song and dance about “checking with the chef to see if it was still ok” like he was doing as a favour!!, at which point we walked out and over the square to the black swan where the service and food was first class!
