I took my family here for Sunday roast. In proportion to price more expensive than most! the food was not high standard. Vegetables were very dry. We sat outside in their "Back Yard". The tables are not suitable for young children age 4 and 6. I asked for a high chair... It was too low and we had to hold the plate for our 2 year old to eat. I would not recommend this restaurant for family dining. Staff were also quite miserable.
After changing owners, it's not good anymore. I tried the new year's eve menu today, and it was a disaster. 1st the time I've eaten 'iced' soap There were six options on the Nye menu. We asked for pork and salmon. There was no pork and salmon available. It's ridiculous. I ordered chicken with mushrooms, and believe me. It comes with just one piece of mushroom. What a comedy. I've attached a pic of it So, it was the best pub for me before, but after Mitchel and his father, it is a place to be forgotten.
Really enjoyed the food, beverages and atmosphere at The Farmer's Boy. Must also mention thd staff. Friendly, professional and attentive despite being very busy.
My family and I had Christmas lunch on Christmas Day. There were eight of us. The food was delicious and there was plenty of it. Some of the best turkey I have eaten and my son had the beef, which he enjoyed immensely. Considering which day it was, the staff were very accomodating, helpful and friendly, as understandably they were extremely busy. I have also eaten here fairly recently in the evening and watched / listened to live music. I would highly recommend.
Very happy with new management. Friendly staff always feel valued and dogs are welcome Have tried a lot of the dishes and been happy. However the fish pie We both had was very disappointing, lots of mash & sauce very little fish.Ordering at the bar on busy days could cause a lot of waiting time.
Great Little Hideaway We met up with our friends this afternoon in this newly renovated pub/restaurant in a lovely quiet village setting. Staff attentive and polite to our needs. Meal plentiful, not quite 5 star but definitely 4.5 rating. We will be returning soon.
What a fab place this is. The food and service received was exceptional. We were really treated with such care an attention we thoroughly enjoyed ourselves.. Later we were saddened as my mother had lost a valuable ring. The staff were super, the ring was found and couriered to us by Ben as we live a long way away. It was very kind of them, but it doesn’t surprise me!
Great service, good menu, and the first pub we've been to lately that hadn't run out of drinks! Nice refurb, although the tables were a bit small for four people dining, only big enough for four people having drinks. The girls were great at accommodating us, thank you.
This is how I remember pubs used to be. The staff greeted us on arrival, were so helpful and pleasant. The food was lovely and good portions. It was a thoroughly enjoyable lunch with wonderful staff. Thanks to the manager Rachel, Sandra and the kitchen staff.
Visited on a Saturday evening when live music was featured. The singer was very loud and not very good. We had to ask to be moved as we could not hear conversations. The staff were very welcoming and pleasant good selection of gin. The food was very mediocre, chicken milanese was overcooked and starters ok but not memorable. Would like to be able to support this local pub but food definitely let it down
