Story

Situated at the head of the river lee navigation in Hertford, The Old Barge pub makes an excellent destination for cyclists, walkers and river users.
A proper family (Under 18's welcome until 7pm) local pub in a riverside setting with a beer garden, small car park and sheltered, heated smoking area to the rear.
A delicious contemporary British menu, with daily chef's specials, complements an extensive range of real ales, lagers, world beers, ciders, perrys, wines and a premium bottled selection.

Sundays: Quiz night 9pm.
Every last Thursday of the month: Music Quiz.
Every second Thursday of the month: Live Jazz.
Regular Beer festivals, whisky/wine tasting nights.
Half term heroes - winter school holidays.
Annual Cray fish fest - August bank hol.
Annual The Folly @ The Folly - summertime.
Televised sporting events - NOT Football.
We only take bookings for Mothers Day & Christmas.

A friendly welcome at this pub situated by the river in Hertford. Due to covid restrictions we sat outside in the covered area. Ordering was efficient and the fish finger sandwiches and sweet potato fries were excellent.
Amazing Full English and Eggs Benedict at The Old Barge this morning! Washed down with some excellent mimosas. What a start to the day!
Great pub in pretty location. Good food and beer.
Had lunch there on a Sunday, although the roast look good and worth the £15 the other meals also £15 came up short. My husband was so hungry after his lunch we had to stop off to get something more. We are not big eaters. The food was lovely but the quantity was not
Right from the start brilliant customer service. E Mail taken at booking for track and trace safety. Environment safe and clear markings. Staff beyond brilliant. The meal was 100% Our first meal out after isolation could not have been better. Thank you.
The barge burger was amazing. Cooked to perfection. The staff are very cheerful and welcoming. Very good social distancing in place
Very attentive staff, well looked after and served. all good on the COVID front, felt safe and well distanced, we went on a Sunday afternoon had to pre book for 6 just for drinks but enjoyed nibbles and then were offered the most enormous Yorkshire’s left over from their Sunday roast!
