I had a great experience in Oxford Ballroom Emporium partly because of India, my personal stylist for the day. India passionately helped me without any compromises, and considered all the things I asked for. She has a great eye for choosing perfect dresses, knows her stuff, is very insightful, friendly and patient. Her experience shows and she is very driven. The store has the best quality dresses and I will definitely return especially because of this great experience with India.
Everyone at the Ballroom Emporium was wonderful, all incredibly helpful and had a wealth of knowledge. I went in a fluster needing a very! last minute dress and the fantastic Susanne found me the perfect one. Sylvia their seamstress hemmed the dress for me, too, ready to be collected that evening. A little on the pricey side, but it’s a lovely small business who provided a faultless service. Would absolutely recommend.
Popped in today as my daughter was looking for a dress for an upcoming wedding. We didn't realise you needed an appointment. Carol kindly checked for us and said she could give us some time until the next appointment arrived which was super lovely of her. She advised my daughter of which size rails to choose from and the fitting staff were really helpful. We came out with a perfect dress at a reasonable price. Thank you so much for your kindness in accommodating us today. Highly recommend this store
Absolutely beautiful place with amazing dresses, my daughter is a tiny size 2, and they easily accommodated her tiny frame, they listened to what she wanted, took the time for her to try each dress on about 5! then gave honest feedback about each dress whilst showing her more options and ideas, she finally decided on the first dress, they had the patience whilst she tried and pranced about in the dresses!! The amendments that were needed were done by the in-store seamstress to extremely high standards, they even put a loop inside for my daughter to easily move about ect!! The staff here are extremely helpful and friendly,
I cannot recommend the Ballroom Emporium highly enough! We popped our heads around their door with only a matter of days left before my daughter needed a dress for her prom. Normally an appointment is required to allow customers an individual window to try on frocks, but, despite their schedule being heavily-booked up, they went out of their way to squeeze us in there and then. We were so lucky to be helped by Suzan who is utterly charming and was extremely supportive, discreet and patient ! throughout the trying-on process. With the dress chosen she continued to facilitate everything for us and managed to absorb us seamlessly no pun intended into their busy alteration service. This is a phenomenally busy time of the year for them, but we at no fault felt rushed or pushed, rather welcomed and supported. The evening wear is of a very high quality at a most reasonable price. They whole process was done in just a few days and my daughter is thrilled with the result. Top hats off to this fabulous shop - we will be back I am sure!
Very friendly and helpful, including a temporary alteration to a dinner suit I wanted to use the same day.
Expensive, but a good selection of vintage items. In terms of musical instruments in particular, they are incorrectly priced too expensive for cheap imported models, e.g. cheaply made and RRP sold trumpets, tagged in BE for nearly £100, which is insane haha. That's not meant to be an insult, my family just has a background in music so it stood out to us when we went in. Obviously the store is very much marketed to Oxford's bougie/rich side, which is disappointing but not surprising. Other than that, I've bought lovely clothes from this shop on a budget of course.
Just not for me ...£400 a prom dress and just not worth the experience but don't let me put you off, they have loads of overpriced charity shop stuff aswell
Lovely experience! The shop is truly filled with vintage, very well preserved items. They have a wide range of products and the prices vary according to their condition, timeline etc. From clothing, jewellery, shoes, sunglasses, accessories, formalwear, costumes, prom dresses, casual clothes, ballgowns, top hats, plenty to choose from and for every occasion. Our interaction with the owner was very pleasant and insightful. We will definitely pop in the next time we're in Oxford as I love a proper vintage shop. I recommend!
Most of the staff where so professional, knowledgeable great and lovely : but one person the owner I think seemed almost annoyed I was there in the shop. She kept rushing me when I was looking at clothes and gave bad customer service. I ended up leaving early without buying anything as I felt awkward. Which is a shame as they do genuinely beautiful ballgowns and clearly are experts in their field.
