This is the third time I rent with europcar. The previous two times I rented a car for home delivery and premium insurance and the process was smooth. This time, I arranged for a pickup from the branch, after hour return and basic coverage and it was the most difficult rental process ever. I got 30 min talk on pickup about the risk of basic coverage, but the employer took only 5 min to record scratches on the car and ignored my suggestions prompted to take picture. Also, I was told that in the 60 pages terms document it is stated that after hour delivery costs 20 pounds extra and I had already agreed to it. I returned the car one hour before the agreed return time and did the key process as instructed. This morning I got an invoice that charged me incorrectly 80 pounds extra. Upon calling the local shop, they admitted their mistake, but told me that they couldn't do anything and asked me to call the main call center. I would expect if the shop did a mistake to short it out ASAP on their own and not ask the customer to call a callcenter and spent an hour to register a dispute. Probably will opt for a different rental company next time.
Charged me for more time than I had the van They took money for two days rental even though I only booked and had the van for one day - I picked it up and returned it on the same day. Apparently this branch is closed Sunday so even though i returned it saturday evening, they didn't book it in until Monday morning, and i was charged an extra day. Called to let them know they had made a mistake and they opened a dispute that would be looked at 'within 7 days'!! Basically just stole money and now I have to wait for an investigation into their very obvious mistake! There is no investigation that needs to be made here, I was overcharged and want my money back!
Who allowed these guys to provide the cars for motability. It’s 2 weeks since my car was taken into garage and two weeks since I received a car from Eurocar that I can’t drive. I cant fasten the seatbelt unless I use the illegal extension i had to buy which is only way i can reach the pedals. It’s a lovely new MG SUV Manual, with my disability I needed an automatic but was advised because of Covid they were in short supply so I went with SUV. As I drive an SUV now. But on mine I have a decent roomy seatbelt and the seat goes lower. So two weeks ago I was told not to worry but no contact. Then on friday i couldn't have one because all out for weekend so would look for an alternative the following Monday when many cars were returned. Again heard absolutely nothing so contacted motability who contacted their head office said they would contact me. Nothing absolutely no call at all. So this Monday I phoned again and was told they didn’t have much stock but Dave would phone me. But Dave didn’t phone, then again I suppose they don’t care they are getting paid for a car that’s been sat outside for 2 weeks. So I’m now going to contact the motability directors to see if they are happy about the fact money is going down the drain and disabled people are being treated this way. Motability told me they have given permission for Automatic SUV. I said I would even accept a smaller automatic but no call. Appalling service. Are you joking UPDATE I sent an email and you get. Normally we answer within 7 working days however in these times it may take longer. I'm just going to the head of motability.
I know there have been some unfavourable reviews left, so its only right that I should praise the service I have received. Very courteous and professional from the start to finish. Fully valeted van and a joy to drive. Thank you. Will certain be using again :-0
Unpleasant experience: better choose competitor! Why? You will be surprised by the Europcar Lancaster/ Morecambe team with additional fees upon arrival! I have made a booking through a Website for 4 days around 99 pounds. Upon arrival, they asked me to pay another 10,66 pounds +10%, which were not stated during my initial booking. No Pay, no car...so what to do? Since it was the 31.12 and I needed the car, I had to accept the payment, further discussions with customer service, threating me like a child, ended in frustration and denial! Competitors are more committed and TRANSPARENT to customer satisfaction, especially HERTZ and AVIS. My god if you need to charge that fee, do it but say it beforehand. BTW: If you return your car out of business hours: be happy to be charged 20 pounds for dropping a key in the locker! Car was dented and a rear end crash, everywhere scratches, no parking sensors it's 2020. No damages registered before, took me half an hour to file the damages! Chaos at return, no clear process and responsibilities. Never again!
Hired an SUV for 10 days for the family holiday. Brought correct documentation and paid a further 250pounds deposit on the car as standard on the luxury vehicles. Great customer care and a really enjoyable experience. Wouldn't look no further for next time.
I will never use this company again. I booked the car for 2 days but they charged me for 3. With added hidden costs ended up costing more than double the amount in my booking confirmation. Fee should have been £85 but they charged £190!! I disputed the invoice and they took the full amount from my credit card anyway with no explanation. Beware!!!
After leaving a totally unsuitable car outside my house for nearly 10 days after being told on the day they delivered it to collect it, they then decide to fraudulently take money out my bank for fuel considering the car never moved .. the car was absolutely filthy inside and hasnt been cleaned for weeks, dirty tissues in the passenger door, no way was this cleaned in accordance with the current situation. absolutely disgrace and thieves .. the police WILL be getting involved .... give them a massive wide berth !!!!!
Booked a van, europcar confirm and take money out of my account. Then a phone call an hour later to say they don't have a van available and money will be back to me sitting 3-10 days. Every other car hire provider leave it awaiting confirmation. Not just take the money then leave you with no vehicle. Awful in all aspects.
using this company was great, however there is one thing id like to advise which isnt clear until the booking has been made online, for a first time user who didnt know about a deposit, it would have been better to warn me of a £250 deposit required for the £49 rental. if i was rich and had plenty of funds then i wouldnt mind but to state that the deposit does not leave your account is not 100 percent acurate as the funds do get taken and will be held liable and given back in 3 - 10 days.. providing u havent damaged the vehicle or not topped up the petrol.. i only had 100 so literally had to borrow from elsewhere to make it happen. perhaps if its clear on the booking page online it will be less of a shock.. also.. it states unlimited mileage free.. which i assumed there would be a petrol card and on the company's expense like zipcar for example. however without those things in mind, the vehicle was a 2016 vauxhall corsa ending in OMG lol it was clean.. smooth to drive.. very economocal and overall a great rental. thank you for returning my deposit in full :
