Giftware, women's clothing, accessories, jewellery, things for the home, furniture, and the odd item that resists categorising - the shop really is an 'Enigma'!
It started when Endang & Lindsay brought in their first container shipment of teak furniture from Java, Indonesia, in 2000. They had lived on remote development projects in Borneo for years, and were coming home for a normal life with the kids!
'Laxdale' garden furniture started in 2001 in nearby Gelston - importing container shipments of teak furniture from Java. Laxdale still forms an important part of the business. Enigma started trading in King Street, Castle Douglas, in December 2004, when our imported shipments started to include giftware, which still give our shop a subtle oriental feel.
Our product range is eclectic..........giftware, women's clothing, accessories, jewellery, things for the home, furniture, and the odd item that resists categorising - the shop really is an 'Enigma'!
Lindsay runs the furniture side of things, and Endang continues to drive Enigma with a passion, and is blessed to have two wonderful staff - Christine and Donna. We have fun together, and get excited by new products, great design and fresh thinking, and like to think our customers feel the same way when they visit our shop.
