I had a positive experience at the Embassy of Germany in London. I was able to get an appointment for a criminal clearance certificate quickly and easily. Staff and security at the embassy were friendly and explained the process clearly and in detail. I was able to store my belongings in a locker secured with a key at security and waited under 5 minutes for my appointment. I paid by card with no issues. Only docking one star because there’s no bike parking around the embassy. While there appears to be plenty of secure bike parking for staff behind the gates, there are no spots for visitors or the public. The closest bike racks appear to be down the street at the corner of Chesham and Pont, but it would be great if the Embassy could work with the borough to get racks installed outside for visitors as well.
The staff are incredibly rude and unhelpful. You’ll be lucky if you get a “Hello”. I had to get a form legalised and the security guard gave me the wrong ticket, which sent me to the Passport instead of the legalisation window. The lady there was so unprofessional and rude, looking at me as if I was an utter idiot for coming to the wrong window. It makes me feel so ashamed and this is not how an embassy should represent themselves. Not the first bad experience that I’ve had but a little bit of kindness shouldn’t be too much to ask for.
When you go to the embassy there is a staircase that takes you to a door that appears to be the main entrance. Today a lady opened that door to enter and I was right behind her, I said, “hello, good morning, I have an appointment for 8:45, she said to me “get out!” in a rude tone, she could tell me “you need to be answered via the intercom”, or something like that, then another lady with a rude tone asked me what was the appointment for, but the intercom did not output the sound correctly and it was difficult to understand, she apparently with no patience told me that the passport office was downstairs on the left, which looks like a parking car entrance. If you are going to the embassy, ​​be aware that the entrance is through a small door on the side of the building, the employees at this service point are more polite and kind, but those upstairs are rude and no patience.
I had to contact the embassy for visa enquiries and the person was really unhelpful and just gave a very vague answers which impacted on my parents travel journey. I hope the staffs can be more supportive and able to be communicated.
unfortunately I cannot give ZERO stars. They actively encouraged me to commit an offence instead of issuing a new passport in my new name. Until now, they haven’t responded, apart from one employee apparently the Head of Operation - Passport Service with the request to send additional supporting documents, haven’t heard back since. Also, please be aware that you submit supporting documents via Email - so no data protection is guaranteed. I am still waiting for information about an Express Pass. The Passport hotline which is open 2h per day is a discrimination for people that have to work in key relevant jobs. I tried to call, no success to all, unfortunately. Even the phone operator was speechless. Waiting 3 months for a Passport appointment is the norm, so book at least a year in advance - oh and don’t forget to bring your VISA card, so they can charge you in Euros cause upfront payment isn’t an option, forget about apple pay cause your phone is locked away. Overthink your service, urgently! If my workplace would provide such a service we would have been shut down already.
LOUSY , SPENT 5 MINS CHOOSING 3 DIFFERENT OPTIONS , FINALLY GOT A CURT RECEPTIONIST WHO REFUSED TO HELP WITH MY REQUEST FOR THE ACCURATE TRANSLATION OF A SINGLE GERMAN WORD SO I COULD GREET A PARTY OF GERMAN TOURISTS VISITING US IN THE COTSWOLDS - THIS WAS 1.02PM ON WED 12TH JUNE IF YOU CARE MR AMBASSADOR !
Great help in issuing a temporary passport at very short notice. This saved our trip to Japan. Very friendly staff. Could not be more grateful!

I needed a temporary passport having lost mine just a few days ahead of travelling. The staff at the embassy, from security guard to the passport officer could not have been more friendly or professional. Thank you!
The staff was friendly from the security, front desk to the application desk. I got there around 9:30am, and my number was called out in less than an hour. The lady assisting me was very lovely, she wasn’t sure if my visa would be processed because I didn’t have a certain letter, but it was from a good place. I paid for courier service and it came the next week. Great service.
