It's quite surprising how much this place has changed, especially from when I was a supervisor here during Ann and Vince's tenure. It was disappointing to be turned away at the door for the first time ever, being told "it's full," when in fact, the venue was half empty. We just wanted to enjoy a drink for old times' sake as It was almost a year since my last visit to Camden. I'm not sure if this was just an arbitrary decision by the security staff or a new business policy, but either way, there was no good reason for denying us entry. We were completely sober. Could it be because we are in our mid-30s? Perhaps they prefer a younger crowd that might not spend as much. If this is a business policy, it shows a lack of understanding of what this venue is capable of. If it was the security's decision, then management needs to take action, as it's costing you valuable business. It's truly a shame to see such a great venue potentially losing its way.
It's clear the staff don't want to work here. Two bar persons ignored me waiting including one member of staff biting his finger nails and spitting them on the floor over serving me and my wife, when he eventually served us, my wifes cider glass had lip marks around it and it took her ages to get a straw out of mr charisma. One lad who worked there, worked the entire time with his airpods in, while another was busy adding toilet roll and soap to the ladies as there was none, amazing at 2.30 in the afternoon. Didn't use the toilets, didn't have food no idea if they do food but I'm not brave enough to try it We left our drinks obviously. I hate to say it, but avoid this place. Have added photo of the glass
The Elephant's Head in the heart of Camden, close to the canal. A delightful fun pub with my favourite pub table, I bet many a beer has been lost on that! Plenty of choice from the keg along with some cask to keep everyone happy. Laid back, great service and a warm homely atmosphere. A great place to drink, great soundtrack too!
Lively spot. Great Buzz DJ played some classic indie and rock tunes, Stone Roses and Ramones. Would definitely go backService: 5/5
As a regular customer and neighbour working in Camden Market I was treated to a total disgrace by the bar staff today. A short girl with glasses who didn't know how to serve a gin and tonic. I had my drinks in small glasses when I asked for larger glasses as they should be for such drinks. The girl said she had to charge us extra for this. When I pointed out with my finger that we still had half a full bottle of tonic and the correct way to drink this drink was to pour the gin and then pour the tonic into the bottle. The girl poured the tonic into our already full drinks which resulted in the drinks being spilled on the bar and then she just flicked the empty bottles and we could hear the glass breaking , absolutly horrible , The girl was extremely rude. And the client customer service to 0. As I mentioned I work at Camden Market and I will make sure that everyone finds out about this extremely unpleasant experience. I hope the girl gets fired , thank god the manager and the security guys were nice enough to calm us down , because we’re proper furious. What a shame , an iconical place in Camden gets such poor staff .
There are very few really traditional old Irish pubs in Camden so when you walk into one like this you instantly feel the tradition, it’s in the walls the atmosphere the staff everything. It even has its own T-Shirts The Elephants Head is ideally located at a main intersection on Camden high road and Jamestown road, within easy reach of the market and lots of great shopping and about a five minute walk from the underground station. As you walk in you know you are not in a trendy wine bar and that is refreshing. I remember this pub was boarded up during the pandemic, they did not even try to open it was a weird sight, but I’m delighted to say that it’s now back on its feet and serving it’s now fully open to its loyal customers again. Over 500,000 people pass through the doors every year to take in the atmosphere and have a cheeky pint. I won’t bore you with the history I’m sure you can research that for yourself but it’s worth a read. Even though you can’t access it yet, the pub has a fantastic roof garden that overlooks the only living wall garden in Camden which is on the MTV building opposite, next door to poppies traditional fish and chips restaurant. It’s hard to give really solid feedback on the staff because of current situation with staff shortage but the staff behind the counter when ever I visit are great and give really good service. They have a few chairs outside at the front so you can sit and watch the world go buy whilst enjoying your pint of beer. They have a great range of drinks and happy to say they sell real Coca Cola in glass bottles, thank goodness. It looks and feels like a great place to enjoy a JD & coke, pop in and do let me know what you think.
This is a great pub. The only people moaning are the ones who have been thrown out, usually for good reason. Great beer, lovely food and lively atmosphere. Huge mixture of people due to the market up the road and Camden in general. One of the best pubs around!
The place is a genuine English pub with character. Meaning we feel being in England. The beer is as expected and the food is good. We had the traditional fish and chips seasoned with lemon juice, vinager and salt mashed beans and tartare as sides. The kids had the hot dog and ham and cheese ciabatta. No picture of the hot dog as my son jumped on it. Guess he was hungry. A pleasant place to make a stop and relax before resuming the walk in Camden high street. Open every evening until 2am.
I spend a wonderful moment yesterday, especially because of an angel behind the bar named Nadia, a very professional and careful person! I've rarely someone that sympathetic working in a pub... I advise you to taste the Brixton beer, it's local and tasty!
Great staff, always look after me and my friends. absolutely an amazing place no matter the night of the week. highly recommend it. :Service: 5/5
