Discovered this place today! Was brilliant loved the whole atmosphere of the venue, having to go down in a lift to get to the seating area was a great touch, also passing and speaking to the chef was different The bottomless brunch we had was amazing value for money and the food was delicious! Staff were really friendly and inviting Will definitely be going again!
Interesting experience in the basement vault of Qubana. It's a small and intimate space. You enter the restaurant via a small lift, and there are some tight corners, so not accessible for mobility scooters or wheelchair users. Service was lovely and friendly, very helpful. A wide choice of Mexican food, including a good kids menu with choice for those who don't like spicy food. I'm gluten free and there was plenty of choice for me. We'll definitely be going back! Kid-friendliness: Excellent kids menu, including small dessert portions Dietary restrictions: Good for gluten free
First visit last night won't be the last. Lovely hidden gem Beautiful venue. Staff so friendly, the front of house showed us to our table and made sure we knew we was in the old banks vault made it more of a experience me and my husband really enjoyed. The waiters very efficient and polite. Food nice and reasonably priced. Live music on upstairs and cocktails finished off a lovely meal. Thank you
The place itself is great, splendidly decked out and very much looking the part. It was really cool going into the basement which I believe is an old bank vault and entering into a cosy, but not cramped mini bar and restaurant. The service was excellent and the lady Britney who served us was lovely. However, the reason I can't recommend this place, was the food. We love Mexican food, so we ordered loads, so that we could take some home. But really wished we hadn't! We mainly went for a selection of Tacos. All I can say is that I have never eaten such dry and tasteless food before. It honestly felt like we'd been given left overs from the night before. There was nothing Mexican tasting about it at all. No seasoning no spice and worst of all, no moisture! Also, take a look at my photo for what they tried to pass off as 'loaded' Nachos and see if you can spot any toppings at all. It just looked like they had poured a bag of Doritos into a metal tray! We would have complained, but as mentioned, the staff were so nice, that we couldn't bring ourselves to. I'm not sure if were just incredibly unlucky, as other Google reviews are 5 stars. But either way, I simply cannot recommend this place based on our experience and unfortunately, we won't be returning. Such a shame, as it's a great, little venue.
Small restaurant located downstairs in the vault, smarty decorated with a fun atmosphere. Prompt service from friendly staff. Food tasted great but all our portions were too small, which made it a touch expensive.Food: 4/5
I am writing to give feedback to our booking on the 15th December at the ICO restaurant. Firstly I would congratulate the restaurant on how easy it is to book a table at the restaurant online. Unfortunately this is where the positive feedback ends. Arriving on Wood Street we entered the "restaurant" by the door underneath the ico sign. However this turned out to be a back entrance and not welcoming at all! Staff by the door just looked at us. We then walked to the front desk and asked about our booking for 7:15pm. We were told to wait while the table was cleared even though it was 7:15 and asked to buy a drink at the bar even though there was a big queue. A couple of minutes later we were directed to a table for three but were informed that we would be next to a big Christmas party that was due. We were given the menus and it was at this point I realised we had been seated in the Qubana restaurant. I then went back to the front desk and was informed that we automatically booked into Qubana as Ico isn't open on a Thursday!!! It appears that the booking system isn't as great as I initially thought. We were offered a bottle of wine as compensation which I refused. I had specially booked the restaurant for my wife's birthday and she wanted Mexican food and wasn't drinking so the bottled wine wouldn't really help. We instead went to the Mexican across the road and had a wonderful meal! I hope that they correct the booking systems so this doesn't happen in future.
Really enjoyed bottomless brunch here, strange way to get to the restaurant but is a lovely space once in. The food was great but a bit spicy for some, drinks were tasty but not strongFood: 4/5
A great addition to Wakefield’s burgeoning restaurant scene. BIG Shout Outs to Beth, Jake & C/Karl. Wonderful atmosphere and service. Thank You
Top and tail of it we paid £20 a head for 10 people on the sharing platter so they fill your table with food and you all share it. 10 people had to share starters for 8 people, 10 people had to share 8 tacos and there was 2 types of tacos but both had 8,10 people had to share 8 fajitas. Now I’m not been funny but when 10 people are paying £20 a head then it’s simple maths, each person should get 1 of each or your just ripping people off. There’s no excuse in saying we should have asked for more, no we was paying £20 a head for 10 people there should have been enough food for 10 people not 8. Plus drinks on top our bill would have been above £300. We won’t be returning, we really did feel let down and called at McDonald’s on the way home.
The drinks and chips were lovely, everything else seemed to be supermarket bought and bland. I could have made something better at home to be honest. Compared to other Mexican restaurants I’ve been to, ICO was very underwhelming with the hype around it. We paid £60 for a below average meal
