Story

We are experts in every area of modern dental care and certainly one of the most experienced practices in the UK in the provision of dental implant treatment. Each clinician has been recognised by our governing body (the general dental council) as a specialist in their field. (There are only 2000 specialists in the whole of the UK - achieving the title "specialist" assures you of our wealth of expertise and experience.) We currently work with almost half the dentists in scotland providing specialist advice and care for their patients.

Had treatment done here today and absolutely cannot recommend this practice or staff enough. From the minute you walk in the door you really feel welcome and relaxed. All the staff you speak to are so lovely and as an extremely anxious patient, I appreciated that the most. Dr Carol Tait really is outstanding. She knew I was nervous so reassured me every step of the way and explained everything as she was doing it. She's very professional but also has a really warm personality which helps calm your nerves. The dental nurses that were in with her were great too. Thankyou all so much!
I have found the quality of the care and treatment delivered by Edinburgh Dental Specialists to be excellent. Dr Millen and his team were very helpful in guiding me through the options, explaining the treatment plan and answering my questions. I found the verbal and written information to be very clear and have appreciated their engagement with my local dental practice. The time requirement and costs for the work were set out in advance meaning I could plan around it. The results have been better than I expected. It’s been a good investment and I would recommend them to anyone else requiring specialist dental care.
I cannot fault! Everyone is so kind and attentive! The dentist is never a fun place to visit but you all, from Dr's to assistants to reception all make you feel at ease. I have regular appointments at the moment and feel a bit like family!!! The new hygienist, Rhiannon, is also wonderful!!! Until next time!
Have been attending EDS for a number of years. Everyone of the staff are friendly, professional and experts in what they do. My last visit was to Moira the Hygienist. Its always a pleasure to see Moira, she takes such great care with your treatment and will answer any questions or concerns you may have. She is a lovely lady with a kind heart.

Was recommended EDS after having a bad experience with the NHS. After initial consultation and ct scan a plan was put in place for extraction of impact wisdom tooth. Procedure was carried out on Monday with no complications. Staff were so reassuring and talked me through the whole process, making me feel comfortable at every stage.
I would not recommend this place. I was unimpressed with the length of time it took to make any progress with my treatment due to the prosthodontist's lack of attention to detail and poor quality of work. After many appointments some of which actually left me speechless at the low standard of work, I completely lost confidence in the prosthodontist's skill and eyesight, and really felt the outcome of my treatment was not going to be worth the hassle, time and £3k it was going to cost. I was also unimpressed with the attitude of some members of staff after I expressed concerns about my treatment. It seemed as though they found it unbelievable that someone would have the audacity to do so. They clearly have misplaced confidence in themselves and are unable to cope well with unhappy patients who are unwilling to accept substandard dental work. I got a second opinion from another specialist within the practice who suggested that he could take over my treatment from the original prosthodontist if he was able to fit me in, but informed me that he would soon be retiring. When I phoned the practice simply to ask if he did have any appointments available before he retired, I was spoken to with utter rudeness and abruptness by a certain 'Karen'. Her attitude stank! It became apparent that this place is totally unprofessional. I was made to feel like an inconvenience when, in fact, it was I who had been majorly inconvenienced for months as so much of my time was wasted travelling back and forth to the practice numerous times and being consistently presented with work/treatment that was just unacceptable. I decided to have my treatment carried out elsewhere as I had become totally p****d off and exhausted by the Edinburgh Dental Specialists and was refunded the money I had already paid them. Also as others have mentioned there is a long waiting time for an appointment, whilst at the clinic one day, I heard a receptionist say to another patient "it is difficult to get an appointment as we are in such high demand". I think the long wait is probably due to the time they take to actually carry out and complete treatment. If your dentist refers you to the Edinburgh Dental Specialists I would advise you to not go there - there are other dental specialists in and around Edinburgh! EDIT: Re. your response - Your generic response doesn't make much sense. For example, it states: 1. '... your concerns regarding your previous visit... ' - In actual fact I made numerous visits which all resulted in being a complete waste of time. 2. '... all of the clinicians involved with your care have already responded to you in full, outlining their recollection... ' - This is a strange sentence as only one clinician was actually carrying out the dental work and his outlining of his 'recollection' would not have been helpful in improving the quality of my treatment. I was just sharing my bad experience as a warning to others.
Coming from Canada in need of care I could not have picked a better place to continue my treatment. From the first meeting until the last everything was well beyond my expectations. The staff are professionals and the doctors excellent. If you are in need of specialist dental care I recommend this practice above all others I auditioned.
I am very happy with the quality of work and the experience. As a nervous patient needing difficult root canal work, I had a claim, efficient and dare I say, pleasant experience, with excellent results.
Very attentive to detail with a clear plan. Expensive but not used a private dentist before. Looking forward to an implant after gum disease treatment.
