Story

Just over one mile from Birmingham City centre, situated in leafy Edgbaston, the Edgbaston Palace Hotel is a Grade II listed building with its own private courtyard and gardens. Our proximity to the M5 and M6 make us suitable for business travellers travelling cross country.

The hotel is also ideally located for those visiting the Birmingham NIA, ICC, Symphony Hall. Locally there are many attractions from the best night clubs in Birmingham, to entertainment for families such as the Sealife centre. There are also a number of cinemas and a bowlplex in the vicinity. Other attractions include the famous Cadbury World and Botanical Gardens.

Built in 1854, the building was originally two houses, one of which was incidently owned by Marks and Spencer. It was not until 1971 that it was converted into a hotel. The current owners took over in 2007 and subsequently turned the Edgbaston Palace into a revamped modern hotel, whilst still maintaining some of the original period features.Above all we pride ourselves on offering a high standard of comfort and cleanliness.

This isn't the best hotel I've been to. First of all, the hallway reeks of some strange smell. The room was cramped when I was with 3 people, 2 kids. Speaking of kids, my 2 year old daughter's bed is a safety hazard as there are no bars to protect her from rolling off the bed. And the beds are NOT comfortable. Finally, on the bad things, the location is horrible! There are no restaurants or convenience stores nearby and just to get to my kids' schools, we have to take 2 buses which end up making them late. However, there obviously are some good things here. Staff are friendly, they have a place for storing buggies/prams, and every morning, there's some fruits on the counter which allows you to take a snack if you are unable to eat breakfast. Overall, I would just say the rooms could be improved.
The staff at the Edgbaston park Hotel have been extremely helpful and friendly. Breakfast time the staff always Great. you with a warm welcome June Katie Beverly & Cheryl, thank you all for making my stay enjoyable. Excellent service. XRooms: 5/5
Good value rooms clear and comfortable. I did have a problem with the first room I was given but this was resolved straight away with no fuss. We were attending a function there and the function room was hot and seemed not to have air-conditioning. Breakfast was nice although a little small for a full English. The staff were all very nice and attentive. The pictures I have added were for a £55 room this was the first room I was allocated, see if you can spot the problem lol
We had afternoon tea at hotel in dining room, which beautifully decorated in black & gold art deco style. All staff were welcoming and helpful. The sandwiches & cakes were extremely tasty and the harry potter style fog is fun!! We couldn’t finish all the scones so we had a cake box to take them hone. Definitely recommend, a lovely way to spend an afternoon.
Great location, close to Birmingham centre and easy to find and reach via public transport. The family room in the west wing was spotless, almost brand new! The staff were welcoming and friendly enough but didn't trust us with food in our rooms and denied us cutlery and plates. Made us feel like boarding kids. The cooked breakfast was small, but the cereal/pastries and fruit were plentiful and fresh. A massive plus was the fresh coffee at breakfast! All in all, a good stay!
OK for a quick, one night stay. The bed wasn't too bad, however our shower was below average - one of those bath/shower combo's the shower curtain also had a strong, musty smell and the walls between the rooms were not very sound proof. However, with all of that said, the hotel also isn't very expensive. So I guess I can sign this off by saying you get what you pay for.
Unfortunately the staff were pushy and unhelpful when my Advertised Full English Breakfast turned out to be a sausage in a roll made the night before. Also I was forced to sign terms and conditions on arrival at 11pm which included no alcohol or food in the room. Ridiculous, it's not illegal to bring your own food which I had due to being on a work trip. Again, totally inflexible and unconcerned. Definitely spoiled my stay. Otherwise it could have been good value for money and the room had a decent on suite. However I did not feel at all welcomed.
The breakfast is okay. The room was quite small, but clean. I am not so satisfied with the water pressure of the shower. One evening we had several fire alarms but no information from staff. Parking is very good. Either behind or in front of the hotel.
Hotel is very dated and old, we had no shower curtain or lock on bathroom door. Manager is very rude, and not a very nice man. Felt like he was on a power trip when I asked a simple question as to why we couldn't have the room we were advised we could have. Didnt try to accommodate, just wanted more money to sort our problem out. Also had our washing done, lost some of my underwear and the rest came back in drips and drabs, wet and smelling over the course of 3 days! Avoid like the plague.
Beautiful heritage listed hotel. Enjoy a scrumptious breakfast in lovely wood panelled room overlooking the courtyard. Non-smoking rooms a plus, but this led to a collection of smokers in the courtyard outside our room window morning and night. Rooms comfy but very small. Helpful reception staff.
