Eddystone Cafe

About

Eddystone Beach cafe has been here since 1960s. The cafe is seasonal and is open from April till mid September. The access involves walk down the cliff.

Story

Eddystone Beach Cafe is located on the best surf beach on the South Coast at the bottom of Tregonhawke cliff, Whitsand Bay in the 'forgotten corner' of Cornwall, We have an MSW webcam mounted on the front wall so that the sea and surf conditions can be viewed live during daylight hours. http://magicseaweed.com/Live-Whitsand-Bay-Webcam/22/
The cafe is seasonal and our next planned opening day is the weekend before Easter 2016. Otherwise we are open every sunny weekend during the winter season. Next to our cafe there is the RNLI surf hut so from May to October we are assured of safe bathing!

The cafe management and menu for 2016 is planned to be upgraded with all day breakfasts and tasty lunchtime specials as well as the standard beach cafe fayre and the best, (only) chips for miles around!
We are also linked with Adventure Bay Surf School and hire wetsuits and boards.

In 2016 we're planning to run more adventurous activities and provide excellent cafe service including tasty specials, popular BBQs and good old favourites.

The Cafe Owner Jim Shekhdar - The Bold Man of The Sea.

Apparently the cafe closed in 1954 after the owner fell down the cliffs whilst going for soup supplies. Visitors to the beach report sightings of a spectre running across the sands offering soup to any souls that pass that way. Great location, friendly staff and inexpensive, well worth the trek down the hill. 😀
