Cannot recommend this enough. Excellent value for money. The train ride was scenic with lots to look at. There are refreshments available at both ends of the line. All the staff here are so friendly. Our children were so happy to sit in the diesel train cab, thank you! We would definitely visit again and recommend to family & friends.
The Apollo bar is a great addition to Ecclesbourne Valley Railway. Its an authentic carriage bar, nicely restored. Plenty of seating and plenty of choice, whatever your tipple. You can grab a snack from the cafe and enjoy with a pint, with friendly service.
Drive a Diesel Locomotive Day - October 22 This is a must for anyone wanting to drive a mainline locomotive. You start the day at 9.30am Greeted with a hot drink and finish around 4.30pm with a lunch stop and depot and siding tour. There was a group of 4 of us taking turns driving up and down the line. In the morning we used the engine then in the afternoon we did the same but hauling three coaches with our guests aboard! All of the staff without exception were great and made the day even better!
This was the 2nd time this year I have been and another excellent day out at the Diesel Gala, went on a Friday and it was not too busy, so had plenty of trip up and down the track and even had breakfast on one trip, which was really nice. Also had a great chat with the D10000 people, cannot wait to see that run. Will be back there very soon
Fantastic festive experience. Kids absolutely loved their treat boxes, the actors and seeing Santa. Would definitely recommend. A+
A thoroughly enjoyable experience whether it's for a special occasion or a one off treat. Staff are friendly and approachable and both the railway and train were extremely clean. A lovely stretch of track winding through gorgeous countryside. Seems like you are on the train for a long time which makes the price seem very reasonable. Toilets are also available on board.
The steam train ride takes you through beautiful scenery along its way between Wirksworth and Duffield. The train stops for awhile at both stations, and you can spend the time seeing the actual locomotive.
Lovely little heritage railway friendly and helpful staff, lots of things to see and do, went for the Fawlty Towers night, didn't stop laughing till it ended
Delightful place to visit if in the Derbyshire area. Selection of Steam, Deisel and Railcar journeys to Duffield approx 40mins away. Day rover tickets available. Buffet car on platform 2. Friendly staff and also you can take your dog with you.
My 2 daughter's, grandchildren and I went on the Santa's Xmas train ride. It was totally amazing. As soon as we got on the train there were Xmas music that got us in the mood ready for Santa. A cookie and hot chocolate for every passenger. We all had an amazing time and the kids loved the elves especially the naughty elf that was left on the train! Santa visited our compartment which I got a photo of him. As soon as you get on that train you'll love every minute! The platform was all decked out for Xmas and a tree with snow blowing out onto the platform. Amanda
