Consistently, fabulous. The food is always off the scale, delightful staff, lovely ales. They deserve every ounce of success. We arrived on a Saturday afternoon, 3 minutes prior to the kitchen closing and without a booking. They could not have been more welcoming and accommodating. We will be back! X
Very mixed. We were a group of 7on a busy weekend lunch. Unfortunately they had a chef missing or replaced conflicting stories and the meal took +3 hrs 45 min wait for dessert??. They should have said. As to the food also mixed. Sunday roast fine, pasta dish an attempt at haute cuisine - 3 forkfuls on a huge plate! Some starters and dessert nice. Pick a quiet day and simple food.
A party of 6 at 12 mid day so should not be a problem, but there were long pauses between courses and on deserts ran out of vanilla ice cream which surely must be the staple flavour. The food itself was very good and a shame it was spoilt by the service.
Great service and simply excellent food, cannot recommend this pub highly enough. We hope to return soon. Many thanks to all.
Had a great meal with my 6 year old son, excellent service, food on point - good value and the pub was spotlessly clean. Certainly far far away from Dire Straits ! So far away….
Lovely homely bar area, great atmosphere, and location. It's one of the few pubs I will regularly visit.Service: 5/5
A great pub,wonderful food brilliant staff and a beautiful location. Good local beer and plenty of character. Maybe a bit crowded when busy. But lovely. A real find.
We used this establishment for overnight accommodation. I booked 2 x superior rooms, rooms were clean and very nicely appointed excellent quality beds. The breakfast full English with locally sourced products was very good, disappointment that they had run out of several options on the breakfast menu, considering they knew how many people were staying overnight this shouldn’t have been an issue. All staff were polite, helpful, the only other small inconvenience was that they insisted you settle up with each round and would not tab to a room even when staying. However would return and also recommend.
A beautiful quiet rural Public Housem No food Monday or Tuesday night, but the breakfast was delicious. You can taste the bacon and sausages. These were not from a catering pack, but sourced locally.
New Forest locals don't get anymore local than this. Great atmosphere and a restaurant to boot...I'm definitely going back soon...
