Paradise at the end of the "Long and Winding Road". We did a tour of Scotland over two weeks and followed the Seafood Trail which led us to Dunvallanree. The setting of the hotel is stunning even although it was raining cats and dogs when we arrived!. It sits right at the end of the road overlooking the bay with its white sands and turquoise water. Picture perfect the garden was in full bloom with many tropical looking flowers and plants, a very welcoming sight!. This small family run hotel is a perfect get away from it all, the visitors book in the lounge goes back to the 1940,s and I didnt find one dissapointed review. The rooms were immaculate, the beds were the comfiest we ever slept in, and the feather pillows and duvet were pure luxury, not to mention the daily homemade shortbread which was just another piece of heaven added to our stay. The food was what drew us to this hotel, although our journey was rather long as it took us five hours to get there, its at the end of that long and winding road that Paul Mcartney sung about. We spent two nights there, four adults and three children and were excited about the great food we were going to taste whilst there. We were not dissapointed, Alyson and Alan were amazing hosts and the food was the best we ever tasted, beautifully presented and cooked to perfection, the portions were plentiful and so good that we couldnt bear to leave anything on our plates and greed got the better of us. The eggs laid by the hens out the back were the brightest orange yolks you ever saw, freshly juiced oranges and a breakfast fit for a king with a helping that will keep you going all day long till dinner! Most delicious breakfast we ever ate, I brought my American husband to Scotland for the first time and am so glad we chose Dunvallanree, the food was of the utmost importance as I wanted him to truly experience Scottish food at its finest and Alyson totally delivered and then some!.We had the hotel to ourselves and the beach and bay, Dunvallanree is indeed a hidden gem, I cant rave enough about this place and I have been pining to get back there as soon as we left! I cannot praise this wee place highly enough, the only dissapointment we had was only booking a two night stay! Next time itll be longer!
