The width of the single island platform, albeit a relic of former times when the station was somewhat busier, might be mistaken as a sign that it has pretensions of grandeur as this is a very basic unstaffed station with minimal facilities that are not much to boast about – there's a small bike rack and open waiting shelter but that's about it. Wheelchair users might struggle on the long ramp down to the platforms from the road bridge at the western end of the station which is the only access point and there's no car park, although there is usually space in the streets nearby. The bridge and trees to south of the station give it a dark and slightly oppressive atmosphere, particularly in summer. Sadly, though not unsurprisingly perhaps, it is little used.
Small station, there is a free activity centre car park on opposite side of the road to the entrance and the platform has recently been increased in size increasing the frequency of trains that now use this station.
