Fantastic hotel to stay at. Great location for walks. Entertainment is available each evening. All the staff go up and beyond, the best hotel staff that I have come across in my lifetime. The rooms are very big, the beds are very comfortable. The bathroom is also excellent. Rooms are done each day. Food is also very good. Breakfast there is a good choice. Evening meal 5 courses. Walkability: So many wonderful paths and trails to take from the hotel.
Booked a one night break. Nice enough hotel but the service was shocking. Breakfast was atrocious. Dished out by a server on a tea plate. One piece of bacon, one link sausage, an egg and a dried up piece of black pudding. The server who was wearing gloves handed me the plate which was roasting hot and burned my fingers. Once seated I asked for a pot of coffee. It arrived stone cold. I asked for another pot. Waited five minutes, gave up and left. Poorest service I have ever experienced. When I made this known at reception it was more or less brushed aside and not even an apology. Whilst the hotel was nice enough and in a decent location, it's certainly not one I would recommend or ever return to.
Would have enjoyed more plain food .To get a drink needed to walk across hotel to fetch it . Hotel was lovely and warm staff very pleasant and helpful. A wonderful place to visitRooms: 5/5
Great for an overnight. The twin room on the upper floor included specialty chocolates in addition to the standard hostess tray featuring coffee/tea/hot chocolate and cookies. The shower was hot and water was plentiful. There was quite a bit of mold in the bathroom tiles that needs to be addressed. The size of the room was plentiful. There was a high-end hair dryer for use, plenty of towels, but no washcloths. Samples of shampoo/conditioner/ body wash and soap were included. The breakfast buffet was plentiful and featured hot food in addition to cereals, yogurt, fruit and toast. Parking was right in front of the building, but there is also a lot in the back. Location is quiet and peaceful. Lovely walks in the area. Low traffic.
Went in for meal, enjoyed it as usual though the prices have gone up since last visit in January. I will be back next month. Not staying at hotel.Service: 5/5
Great room above main entrance. Lovely hotel and staff. Only downside is breakfast is a bit of a hit or miss. No so good at filling buffet after coach parties have eaten. Rooms: Great room above main entrance. Nearby activities: Inch marshes and Ruthven Barracks a walkable distance. Some lovely local walks.
Loved this place! It was like staying at your granny's place. Seemed popular with seniors - we chatted with a couple of regulars who just adored the place. People say it's in need of an update, but I found it comfortably old fashioned. Wifi was good. Dinner was delicious, though breakfast buffet was not hot as it should have been. Oddly, you have to walk to the bar to get your alcoholic drinks for dinner because the restaurant doesn't serve alcohol. There was a live lounge singer the evening we were there which was fun. Rooms: Clean. Comfy beds. Food & drinks: Delicious dinner!
We were given rooms in a corridor where there was a known problem with the heating. Unbearable temperature in the room, for which we asked reception to find a solution and they kindly offered us a new room. All seemed fine but the real nightmare came to us at night when we luckily discovered that our beds were littered with bed bugs some of them huge. We begged reception for a new alternative since those beds were just a hazard we have pictures, disturbing and we got a no for an answer since the hotel was fully booked. As you might guess, we ended up sleeping in our car, until the following morning we checked out and got the refund kindly from the manager of the site. The days passed and the bites started to be visible on my skin, a week after and until this day my body is full of bites, which are red and swollen from my toes to the face. I had a severe allergic reaction which I don't know when and how it will end. It's extremely itchy and I have spent so much money on medicine. The hotel would need to take a serious action on it, call pest control and do a thorough clean of the rooms. Until this is done I wouldn't recommend staying there especially if you have kids or you're allergic. The staff was kind and helpful, and the location was good.
Staff were not very experienced, not really their fault but didn't seem to know what they were doing. Also seemed to have a mix up of wine bottles for guests.Service: 2/5
Stayed her on Sunday 2nd July. Very nice room 120. Clean and quiet. Reception staff efficient and welcoming. Had dinner in restaurant, very busy with several large parties of different nationalities, the staff coped brilliantly, efficient, friendly and smiling. The food was hot and tasty. Next morning breakfast was excellent, A buffet style with all the items for a good breakfast. The staff again smiling, helpful and welcoming. I recommend the porridge, just perfect. Some items were running low but were brought out from the kitchen as soon as I asked. All in all a very pleasant overnight stay in an old traditional style Scottish hotel. I would stay again.
