I've been with the surgery for a year and a half. I was a bit apprehensive about moving GP as my last practice was pretty good. Northdown Surgery are at least as good. The online system is pretty impressive. I got an appointment quickly within a day or so for my medical enquiry, and the admin enquiry I made recently was answered within an hour. If you can use the online tools I suggest you do. Much better than hanging on the phone. Good work, Northdown Team.
If I can put a negative, I will.nnFirst incident I had with the surgery, I had a 40C fever for days. seen by a clinician, did a urine dip that tested negative, and then sent me home for a home test to rule out vaginosis.nI asked for blood tests, and she doesn’t want to because “it’s not justifiable reason”. Forty degree celsius.nnNow my partner, who’s had a history of IVDU but is clean, suffering from seizures, was denied his Pregabalin prescription. He losses his tablets so was set for a daily pick up. Lost his dose today, kindly asked the gp for one. The receptionist put him through a “manager” who told him to come after 5pm to pick up the script. My partner came and the manager he spoke to is just another receptionist and the manager had no idea what was going on. He was accused of faking his seizure, and had a fit and no one helped him.nnYes, my partner was verbally abusive and yea he was aggressive. But only after you people were dismissive, and apathetic. No one told him why he was not given a script, the doctor refused to see him, nor explain. The receptionists were rude, made a disabled person a fool. DISGUSTING.
Useless surgery.nBeen struggling with the same symptoms for nearly a year now with no diagnosis or even a hint of an attempt to actually help me.nIt takes far too long to get anywhere with this surgery. You basically have to become your own doctor to actually get the help you need.nnI don’t know if it’s just this surgery or the nhs in general, but it’s been really awful.
New system is awful! As a result, I have no choice but to go to a&e with my daughter to as she clearly has an infection which could easily be remedied with antibiotics but the system means I apparently have to wait up to a week for the results of her tests to even be looked at by a dr - the results are all there… they show an infection yet they are making her wait in sheer agony!!!! Disgusting- looking to move my whole family from this awful surgery
The doctor gave me the wrong medication which could have been detrimental if I didn’t notice it. Then i rebooked an appointment to change this and then received a text telling me I had already received the correct medication so they then cancelled my appointment and I had to argue with the reception staff for them to finally understand and agree with me. They left me waiting so long in the surgery to change my prescription which made me late for work and I am really angry. Absolutely terrible service from the doctors and reception. On a separate day, they told me there were no GPs available at all so I couldn’t be seen. And on another day, I was given an appointment for 3 weeks away for something I had been suffering with severely. This GP practice does not care about its patients and it needs a serious inspection.
