I was a patient in The Day Procedure Unit today. Such professional staff. I was nervous & apprehensive but everything was explained in full detail by very caring friendly staff. The whole environment was very clean & calm. Lovely coffee & toast was ready for me when I came round. Nothing was a bother. A stark contrast to an admisson I had recently in another hospital where I was made to feel like a burden. Well done Downe
My daughter had an appointment at 11.10 am today for Trauma & Orthopaedics ICATS, when she went in she was told by the nurse/doctor that they would have to make another appointment for her as she needed to be wearing shorts and a t-shirt. She was wearing jogging bottoms and a sports bra. Nowhere on the letter was she told to wear shorts and t-shirt, he did apologise but I was fuming as she also has an appointment for an MRI later in the Ulster hospital. My husband took the day off work because of these appointments and will now have to take more time off. More consideration needs to be given!
The Downe hospital is a very clean hospital to go to toilets and floors always spotless.. would highly recommend this hospital

Shout out to Lauren and Carmel from the GUM clinic. It was my 1st time ever in a gun clinic and they couldn't be any more kind and professional! Carmel was extremely informative and helpful and was very easy to speak to. Lauren took my blood test and was extremely professional and funny.
I was quite apprehensive going for my glaucoma surgery but immediately put at ease by the friendly and informative staff in the Day Proceedure Unit .The operation itself by Ms Napier and her team was conducted in a calm and quiet but ultra professional manner.Thankyou everyone .
My 87 year old mum had a cataract operation here this week. The whole thing ran like clockwork. The nurses were wonderful to her, cups of tea, reassuring words, courteous and at no time did she feel rushed to leave the hospital after her operation. While she was having the operation I popped into A&E to have a finger looked at which I had banjaxed at judo the previous night. I had to wait about 90 minutes to be seen but once x rayed it was just another 20 minutes before the finger was treated. Compare this to the Ulster Hospital where my mum a few months back had fallen, a big gash over her face and had to wait 7 hours in a weekday before being looked at. Of course the Ulster has a larger catchment area and the NHS is in turmoil but if you ever want to model how a hospital should be run look no further than the Downe Hospital
