Busy station, felt secure and well maintained. Coffee & toilets looked ok but were not tested. The tracks towards Folkestone have a hairpin bend where the trains used to go to the ferry port at Dover Western Docks. Trains were clean and there were a lot of staff, my ticket was checked on the train, all good.
Quiet city closest port to France. Nice castle and breathtaking white cliff. 40 sterling from London round trip as of 09/23. Worth walking or driving around the cliff and castle. The city don’t have much to shop I don’t think. But it’s charm will surely bring me back
Not a bad station but should be more affective with helpful staff. Clean station with good service to London. Toilets were not in good place, need a good cleaning.
Overall, I was happy with the train service. My only complaint was the vending machine—it seems to be broken. I placed an order, it accepted my card and took the payment, but gave me the wrong item. A staff member nearby saw this happen and told me, “It’s been broken for months, and the station is aware, but the company insists it’s working fine.” That really annoyed me—he watched me use it, knowing it was faulty, and said nothing until after.nnAside from that frustrating moment, everything else was lovely. The station has a clean and free bathroom, which I was very happy about. Just a heads-up: it's a little out of central Dover, so it was about a 20-minute walk into town and around 40 minutes to the White Cliffs, in case anyone’s wondering.
Today I witnessed great organization, contact between Dover Priory station security and the crew of the train going to Kings Cross at 00:00. An emergency situation like one of many so there is no point in writing about it... Big thanks and seriously passengers stop complaining about trivial problems because when you have big ones they will be there for you. I have been driving car only for many years so I know what I am talking about.
