On 1/08 my recycling bin was missed. I reported it online the next day and got a generic reply saying it would be collected within 5 days. It wasn’t. I have since phoned the council office 3 times to request collection. Each time they have said they will email the depot responsible Shaftesbury. Now, some 10 days later I still have no response. It is a few days off the next collection and my current recycling is piling up at home, with no bin to put it in. A missed collection is understandable but a complete lack of response to numerous requests to collect is not. This is an appalling service. No wonder fly tipping is on the increase!
Polite Hardworking. What else can you say Although The bins Tend too fly Like The Wizard of Oz Should be less And heavier.. But the boys cope.
Big thank you to our garden waste collection team for taking our extra bags today at Westdowne close, which had not intended for them to collect Well done folks excellent customer service!
Where do you begin? I have lived near Wareham for 3 months and missed collections are a regular feature. By comparison, I previously lived in Poole Borough and not one collection was missed in over 30 years, except when we had very bad snow a few years ago. I live at the top of a very small lane and the binmen made it clear that they were not going to bring the van around for me and I had to leave my bins halfway down the lane. Neighbours then complained that I was blocking the lane and they couldn't reverse out of their drives. Even after I obliged the crews by dragging my bins to their suggested location, there was no guarantee they would bother collecting them. Now, I drag heavy bins all the way to the entrance to the site to ensure they are collected. Great fun when you have a painful shoulder and hip. In any case, I shouldn't worry too much as our recycling collections have now been missed twice in a row. Neighbours have obligingly informed me that the service here is appalling, as if it's just a fact of life in these parts. I reported my woes to the Waste Partnership a few weeks ago, hanging on grimly for over 10 minutes until someone answered. I had previously aborted umpteen calls as it is nearly impossible to get through. Someone helpfully logged my request for an agreed collection point which does not constitute a nuisance for my neighbours, where my bins will be reliably collected. I was told my request would be passed on to the depot manager who would come out on a site visit. That's the last I heard of it. I have a car and can drive down to the tip; I worry about people who are elderly or without transport. One of my neighbours told me that one of the crews has reportedly said that the service is a shambles and that they are forever playing catch-up with collections. It doesn't help that the crews knock off at 4pm come hell or high water and no additional collections are scheduled after that time. Sorry guys, my neighbours may be resigned to appalling service but I am shocked by it, having come from an area where waste collection was always reliable and professional. What's Dorset Council going to do about it?
I’m really surprised on the reviews of Dorset Council. Whenever I’ve needed to contact them they’ve been nothing other than helpful and lovely. 5* from me!
Seen driver speeding and using phone at wheel. Danger to the public. My bins are always collected so can't fault them for that, but no excuse for dangerous driving.
I have been dealing with these people for over 30 years, from the people that collect the bins, to the people in the office, Always professional service from both parties.
I used the Dorset Waste Collection Service web site to report that my large household recycling and my garden waste bins were starting to split. Within 16 hours of my message, my replacement household recycling bin was delivered and the driver informed me that they were waiting for a new stock of garden bins to arrive. I had expected the process to take weeks to trigger not 16 hours. I have received nothing but excellent service from the DC Waste Services over many years. Well done!
waited weeks for bin to arrive, when I contacted DWP it took them a day to get back to me to tell me there had been a delay at their depot. Don't wait for your customers to have to chase you up, contact them and apologise you wastes of space. On the plus side, the waste handlers on the truck are always hard working and helpful. Maybe the office staff should be trained by the front line staff?
This is my first review but i felt it was desperately needed due to the shocking way this business is run. No commercial collections in a month, every each time told our bin was not out and that we still had to pay! We offered Camera footage to show this was not the case only to be told that we were 3 days late complaining. Do not Cut These guys any slack. You will only end up paying for a service you DO NOT Receive!
