Nice neutral decor, however I was there for a wedding and they seemed understaffed. Guests were clearing tables into bin bags! The bar staff that were there were polite by young and inexperienced. Ran out of lager they couldn't change the barrel until the evening when other staff arrived

I visit this town often because I have family here. Dorchester is the county town of Dorset, England. A historic market town, Dorchester lies on the banks of the River Frome, in the Frome Valley, just south of the Dorset Downs and north of the South Dorset Ridgeway, that separates the area from Weymouth, eight miles ( 13 km ) south. Dorchester is noted as being home and inspiration to the author Thomas Hardy, whose novel The Mayor of Casterbridge was based on the town. Hangman's Cottage, Glydepath Road, Dorchester, Dorset DT11XE. Stone and brick cottage block with thatched roof. Formerly three cottages, now 2. No 17 has higher eaves line, Hangman's Cottage has half - dormer. Projecting brick porch. Wood casements, some lead glazing. Hipped gables. The hangman who carried out the sentences at the ~ Bloody Assizes is supposed to have lived here. You will come to the thatched ~ Hangman's Cottage. It is next to ~ Johns Pond ~ an old irrigation well where the only prisoner ever to escape from the prison drowned on a dark night. This is the start of a picturesque river side walk following the River Frome between Hangman's Cottage and Grey's Bridge, Riverside Nature Reserve is an unexpected rural retreat. Along the picturesque path, you will see the sluice-gates and Mill Stream which forms part of the water meadows drainage system. Winter flooding stopped fields from freezing and allowed fertile river sediment to settle, which allowed for early spring grass to grow for grazing cattle and sheep. The Corn Exchange is a Grade II Listed Building in the centre of Dorchester in the county of Dorset. The Building is two storey's with walls of Broadmayne brick with Bath and Portland stone dressings and a tile of slate roof over. The building was designed by Benjamin Ferrey who also designed All Saints’ Church and the old County Hospital in the town and erected in 1847 - 48 by the builder Samuel Slade. The building replaced an earlier town hall of 1792 which stood a little farther west with an arched passageway into North Square. The building originally composed of a corn exchange, assembly hall and council chamber. Later in the 19th century a new market and police station were added to the north. The clock turret was added to this building in 1864. It is known as Galpin’s Folly ~ after Mayor Galpin who partly paid for it and who approved Benjamin Ferrey’s designs for a tower on a rather slender pillar. There is a Statue of William Barnes outside St. Peters Church, Dorchester. ( 22 February 1801 – 7 October 1886 ) who was an English writer, poet, minister, and philologist. He wrote over 800 poems, some in Dorset dialect, and much other work, including a comprehensive English grammar quoting from more than 70 different languages.

An old building with uncomfortable chairs, no car park. It does have wheelchair access and a small bar and does have some good entertainment
