We had a lovely evening meal. I had a steak which was perfectly cooked. My wife had sea bass which was also beautifully cooked and presented. The staff were lovely, really friendly and not pushy at all. A nice atmosphere and a lovely location. Meal for 2 with a bottle of wine and coffee £100
Outstanding food, family and dog friendly, exceptional staff. Stay and enjoy drinks in the garden. We ate here several times in the week and were never disappointed. Staff work their socks off and are brilliant. Highly recommended. Worth trip out from Aldeburgh stroll back or sit on the beach after.
Amazing food! It seemed a bit pricey, but the food was 100% worth it. The staff were also really friendly and the atmosphere was nice as we. We sat outdoors in a sheltered decking area and were very happy there. Would highly recommend this place.
Really cosy place, loads of space open fires, pillow benches and the garden is massive with loads of tables. French bowels is also available in the garden. Food is really good and well priced. Even just stopping in for a drink is welcoming. Staff are Friendly and pleasant
A short drive from Darsham. During a warm August evening it was very busy outside but they could accommodate us inside advised to book if there are a few of you... there were 8 if us. Good selection if food. I started with a tasty pea and broccoli soup followed a tasty veggie dish. I was pretty full after 2 courses so declined excellent looking desserts including the chocolate brownie with honeycomb ice cream that I would otherwise have had. Thoroughly recommended.
Midweek just before Xmas. Nicely decorated but lacking in ambience, where we sat, our choice,... was cold. Food was good, but personally wouldn't have the burger again, really didn't seem that the quality matched the price. Wife's pheasant looked great and she was pleased she chose that.Food: 4/5
Well I missed the specials board as I went in but was pleased with the selection of vegan dishes on the menu . It was only when leaving I noticed the specials board with even more tempting vegan options. Turns out they do a Vegan Thursday. My casserole was just the winter warmer that I needed. My wife had the fish pie which was also first rate.
This pub is a lovely asset to the village. We went there as a large party of 17, and I was really impressed with the efficiency of service and delicious food. I had the steak deal, which I would highly recommend as the medium rare steak was one of the best I have ever tasted.Food: 5/5
Nice place to stay and eat. Stayed for two night's with breakfast. Had a meal on first night. Lovely food I had the duck starter followed by place of the specials board. Both excellent, my wife is vegetarian and the menu had plenty of dishes for her. She had mushroom pie because she had overheard someone else saying how good it was. She was also impressed. Breakfast was also very good. I had smoked Salmon and scrambled eggs, there was of salmon and eggs. The accommodation was excellent. We had the cheapest room, the only reason for this being cheaper was the shower was a kneeling one in the bath. There was no problem with this. I would certainly recommend this place. Thorpness has the added advantage of good footpaths, suggest heading out of the pub towards footpath towards golf course past house in the clouds and beyond golf course, then follow old railway towards Aldeburg.
Excellent atmosphere and food. What really impressed was the service. Waitress noticed an issue with one plate of food and went out of her way to resolve it. Proactive and no fuss.
