We love Dobbies Garden Centre. One of the best around Edinburgh. It’s often on the pricey side, but the quality is there—a fantastic selection of plants, furniture, garden furniture and tools. You also have a pet section with aquariums - a great attraction for kids. There are a few other departments: toys, DIY, books, food market, clothes. Cafe, Restaurant and soft play on site.
What a place if there was a garden of eaden this would be it. So not only do you have a mini sainsburys, you have books, clothes ,shoes a lake land, a bbq place, a butchers its almost endless. I was in awe when I walked in you could quite easily get lost. There is disabled parking, this is a one stop shop for all your needs. I did not even need things but got lost and ended up with a basket full of stuff. Oh there is a cafe as well. Look just stop and look around you won't be dissapointed. Plants food furniture the list is almost endless.
Update: On my second visit, the garden centre was busy as usual with again an enormous range on display for the spring, summer season. An absolutely enormous place with everything you could possibly imagine! Beyond your every garden essentials, there is clothing, Sainsbury's and even hotel Chocolat gifts ! They sell anything and everything from garden sheds, dog toys and food to handbags and fresh deli. It can get busy despite the size. They are restricting numbers due to Covid and some parts of the shop were closed. I gave 4 stars because it was simply overwhelming to go past a butcher while looking at plants. It is reminiscent of large retailers in the United States that are like small villages in their own right. Overall, I would recommend you visit if you have a plan rather than a casual wonder.
I wonder if there's a spell cast on the staff or other reason, the two Dobbies I have been to, they all carried a genuine smile on their face. This store was huge, there was a lot to see and I believe one can spend several hours there. The signage was clear so it was easy to locate what I really needed and to go.
Very good garden centre. Great selection of products for the garden, home, aquarium's, pets etc. Restaurant is good. Staff very helpful. Site is easy to get round and loads of space for parking.
We had lunch there today. Appreciate its busy and you wait which is no problem but service was so bad. We had finished our meals still no drinks. Had to ask 2 waitresses separately if we will get our drinks 1 coffee and a chocolate milk, 2 glasses of water so it's not like it was a big hard order. You just can't have people finishing meals before a drop of drink served. No card machines available to pay at your table so you had to quickly catch a waiter to pay and not to queue for a long time just for payment after all that. Service was very bad before this occasion about a year ago, I see nothing have sadly changed I had to talk to manager that time. Also was very surprised how much they charged for a child's pasta, their kids menu used to be suitable for kids age 6-7, it was a toddler size plastic plate with very small amount of pasta. 2 carrot and 2 cucumber stick, all for £5.50 My daughter ate some of my toasties and chips which was around £8. Not value for money. Bad service. Disappointing restaurant.
This is very much a garden centre 'destination', with a nice cafe I've only tried scone, but that was quite tasty, a soft play very hot on a hot day, but fun for my 2 year old, a big indoor area, fish again, fun for my two year old and an extensive indoor and outdoor plant area. The outdoor plants are reasonably priced on the whole and those I have purchased have thrived. Some of the products such a garden furniture are very pricey for the quality, in my opinion, so I would not purchase those here. The garden centre isn't as peaceful as others I've been to as it's part of such a big complex, surrounded by roads, but it is a good place to come for a family trip on a lazy day.
Good garden centre with lots of additional shops on site. Its more akin to a supermarket really its got such a wide range of products. It has a great range of plants all year round, hard landscaping materials and everything else you need to create a Garden. Their restaurant seems to be much improved now in 2022. Speedy service from Cait today, who gets 5* from us. Haddock & chips was descent as well.
Festive afternoon tea with my friend was delightful. Owen the waiter was wonderful and definitely made the experience more merry. Delicious food. After we had wander round. A lovely afternoon.
My friend and I were in for afternoon tea yesterday, I was so disappointed. Our server Owen was amazing, so helpfull. I have been for afternoon tea before and this time, there was no choice in sandwiches, and the scones were mini, and the cakes were all like mousse, not a cake to be seen. I rave about your afternoon tea but after yesterday I won't be doing it again. Is it because it was two for £20? Would the dearer one be any better?
